No one lives forever, but with advances in modern science and his high level income, it's not crazy to think that K could live to be 245, maybe 300.
I , for one, hope he does and continues to coach for that long. I am not sure about Capel. Hasn't he coached other places without very much success?

he was real successful at VCU and won well at OU then the hammer came. I'm for Jeff as of today he recruits extremely we'll and has ran a program and K says he's grown a ton since coming here and he also runs a lot of practice and has a lot of input on decisions

I wasn't surprised that ScottB59 got a few wisecrack remarks, since this topic has been discussed ad Nauseum in the past. But I noticed that Scott just joined in January 2015, so give him some slack. I do find it interesting how the responses have changed over the past few years, however. Whereas Dawkins and Amaker and Collins dominated the threads in the past, now Capel seems to have taken over. So it's not a bad thing that the topic has been revisited...it demonstrates the dynamics of such an evolving situation.

I don't ever remember Amaker being seriously discussed but Dawkins was the consensus for a long time but he just hasn't done anything at Stanford out side if 1 sweet 16.. That's not too good in what 7 seasons now? But who knows who will emerge in the next 5 yrs or longer I remember when Capel wasn't really considered a possible candidate because he was never on K staff and now he's the top member of it so u never know

Many people don't know this but HOF Coach Roy Williams turned the Duke job down in 1980 before it was offered to Coach K.;) OFC

Sky; Ol' Roy was about to accept until he discovered that his players would have to go to class. That killed the deal.

Why I give capel credit for recruiting K is still at Duke. Wojo and Collins may not be landing all Americans at Marquette and north western but they brought in pretty good classes for their second season as head coaches and look to build on their success from last year. It will be interesting to see

Capel, but how's this for a darkhorse...

LeVelle Moton, NCCU's coach, just named to the USA Basketball staff for the U-19 team.

I generally never say "never." But I wouldn't bet on the Belmont if I were you. Morton might have to take a few steps upward before being considered for a really big job.

Any one think Bobby Hurley would be a good fit?[/QUOTE

Bobby is going to need to win a lot of ball games fast to be in the running. He certainly has the genes for it and there's a lot of Coach K in him. Bobby shouOFCld have went into coaching 15 years ago.

I don't know who will follow coach K. I certainly would not want to , if I were a coach. It will be like following Bear Bryant, John Wooden, etc. I doubt the first one to step will last long. Just too much expectations. It would't really surprise me if they went outside to get a replacement. Someone like the coach at Butler, don't know if he is still there or not. At any rate, someone who has done well at a lesser program. Dawkins or Capel seem to be popular names, just don't know if they can sustain the program at the rate fans and boosters would expect. Hell, I just hope K coaches from now until he is an old man. How old was Wooden, he looked like he was 90 when he was still coaching.

Just to add something there are prob 3 premier college basketball positions that any coach would take and that's Duke, Kentucky, Carolina. We will find a good maybe great replacement duke will be fine K will leave us in good hands no matter what. I don't think we should seriously worry about it

You'd leave KU, IU, UCLA, UL off that list?

Has K 99.9% put to rest fear of the restrictions an elite academic, private school poses?

Dat if there is a 0.01% fear Amaker at Harvard, Dawkins at Stanford and Capel at Duke gives us pretty good pool to choose from to alleviate that fear.

Brad Stevens is the only home run. He actually knows how to coach.
This
Been saying it for a while now that if things dont work out in Boston and its time for K to hang em up Duke will go hard after Stevens. He's proved he can coach at a high level in college and kind of has the "Duke" look and attitude...we shall see...tough to even discuss this considering K is in such a zone it looks like he'll never retire lol which is a good thing.
