I'm still trying to understand why the Chargers left SD. Yes, their stadium was old and needed repairs/replaced, but it's still better than a modified soccer stadium. In addition, most NFL fans in LA consider the Rams, not the Chargers, as their home team. Their most loyal fans must drive up from SD and/or Orange County. They most likely will become football version of the Clippers -- that 'other' team playing in LA. Face it, to LA NBA fans, the Lakers will always be their team. Ditto the Rams in football. The Chargers would have been better suited financially to stay in SD and continue to pressure the city to build a new, modern stadium. And, its not to late to start those conversations again. Either that, or go looking for another town to do the same -- as the Raiders did.
