We need to have a nickname guide, apparently.
I call him Tboy it ain’t Lee!

But, this is a good practice for the forum! Let’s give these guys good nicknames.

I’ll start! Troy Spratley is Tboy!

Now, let’s start a new thread, giving these guys the name they’ll carry.

Robidawg

Las Vega

I also came up with P. Swiddy but we probably can’t use that one lol.

You do realize he won the wrestle off last year for 49? He was asked to go 41 because Carter swore he couldn’t make 41 and the coaches also believed and still do that he can win a natty at 41. So then he takes one for the team and then Carter gets replaced in February. But now of all of a sudden Carter can make 41? Tagen has a chip on his shoulder and if his rehab goes well he will be getting his spot back I promise you.
Nothing like a good old fashioned chip on the shoulder to inspire someone.

Just shows what a joke the big 12 actually is that a guy who's not on any staff was able to influence that decision. Years ago the big 12 screwed over WVU at 133 after Lamont lost round 1 and mid tournament they decided to do a true match at 133 so Lamont would qualify for NCAAs . This off season a few big 12 teams will be leaving the conference for wrestling. And what happened last year definitely played a role in that.
Which off season? The next summer? John Smith is not “a guy”, he still has a ton of friends and connections. The Big XII is the second best wrestling conference and only getting better.

It’s early, this team appears to need competition at 133 and 149. Hopefully Jamison to 149 is under consideration. Vega is too good to take off the mat, and don’t believe he can beat Vega. Jamison and Swiderski can push each other. 133, will be interesting to see how others look if Figs can’t find a way to clean it up.

a healthy Jamison beats both Vega and Swiderski imo. Lots of work to do for the squad, let's hope their early-season form is just part of the process

Hope someone can find on the board where I said Jamison was too big for 41 last year and would crash because of the cut. I said he will be the 49 starter this year. When he comes back he WILL be your starter and he will be fire !!🔥
I remember…because I argued.

I still think he can make 41, but 49 is better for him and we need some help at 49.

Tough draw (beat by the 3 and 4) and a major knee injury away from AA.

Vega has Wrestled two matches and done well…but I don’t think he can beat Tagen, but Swiderski is clearly gas tank light right now.
We’ve been over this before. Everyone who AA’s has had a rough draw at one point and/or dealt with injuries.

It seems absolutely far fetched that they would take someone out of the lineup who’s winning at the pace and level Vega is at the moment.

He only scored 5 points against a senior who's qualified for the tournament once (1-2). I urged caution after Vega's first win and I'll be the bad guy and do it again.

I'm a huge Vega fan and he's looked great, but keep in mind his competition. His potential is super high, but he's still a true freshman and hasn't been tested yet.

Lot of time to let this work out. Vega will need to show consistency and that he can beat highly ranked opponents.

Jamison needs to get healthy and either show he can hold 141 well or that his biggest advantage currently (his strength) translates to 149.

Swiderski needs to get healthy and show he can bounce back from a rough run.

There is lots of talent in the above 3 but all have legitimate questions marks and things will need to play out.
