I’m in the move on from Brands camp, but it’s kind of sad how it’s become a sh*t on them for everything free-for-all here lately, especially with the PSU fans egging it on. Yes, the product on the mat is 100% on them, but from everything I’ve heard as well, they are not at fault in the Bassett or Mo situations. The problem is those situations hurt far more when the program is already at a low point
Agreed and Brands outright refusal to defend the program and won't mention another word about...as example the Mo situation...he said he was no longer part of the program and then that was it...nothing more.

Their refusal to defend the program allows rumors to run rampant and then become the truth because the one that does know, won't talk (Brands). So yeah, it is their fault that it has gotten to this low point...because they allowed it to get there by not commenting on anything other than "we like our guys", "it was my call"

Is that really your retort? I LITERALLY "defended" the points with clear data. Go back and look at when I first said the 2 Finalists and 6AA's or 6 top 5 AA's. I CLEARLY said that should be enough to say it was a successful season. But, it shouldn't be called a flat failure if they have 6 AA's but don't have all top 5's or 2 Finalists. What if they have 5 top 5 AA's? Does that mean they sucked? What if they have 3 Finalists but only 4 AA's?

This world isn't based in ABSOLUTES. But, where I have been ABSOLUTE is that I would back off defending them if they don't meet that number and THAT goal post has NEVER wavered.

So, put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Actually, I think it was a great retort. He has you figured out. LOL

Thank you. Like I have said, even though we may go at it hard, you are, for the most part, level headed. I get that I "rile up" many that go back and forth with me, so much of it is my fault, but they only see RED when I am involved and most rational thought goes out the window!
Even your rational thoughts go out the window. And I’m not hating.

I really don't get it. Guys like you and Grip are obvious real fans who happen to support the program through thick and thin and are actually very respectful of outside opinions. I feel the same way about El dub so that is an odd battle to me. I poke the bear and don't mind a few stones cast my way. I haven't found very many people on these boards that I think I wouldn't like in real life so to speak. Most of my best buddies in wrestling are true Hawkeye fans with a sprinkling of ISU fans mixed in. I guess I tend to like wrestling people in general. We are all insane when you get right down to it.
Love my man Grip…he’s iron to the core. And Dub is a solid poster as well. I think we’re all just caught up in the sh*t show this has become.

Are you now my 4th stalker? You guys can play spades now!
Stalker?? 🤣 Methinks you have quite an inflated opinion of yourself and your belief anyone REALLY cares that much what you do or say. Cause they don't. But keep on trying to convince yourself and others that because someone simply responds to one of your tedious and too-long posts that you are being "stalked". Too funny!

Anyone have any info on potential impact transfers? I know portal opens April 1, I have to imagine we're working on some transfers right now?

I'm not agreeing with MSU but I will defend him. He has been very solid with his goal of evaluating the coaching after the NCAA tournament. I think that is measured and fair. I highly doubt the team will finish top 3 or have 6 high AA, but finishing 5th with 5 AA would not be a terrible tournament by most measures. Falling out of the top 5 with 4 or less AA would be a face plant for Iowa wrestling. He also has stated many times that he won't join the chorus in calling for the head coaching change but he will silently let the chips fall.
Literally?

Has the program completely given up on developing?
In another thread/post, discussing VV, it was stated he went 2-2 at nationals while with the Pokes. He could not even qualify this year at B10s. Acknowledging the much more difficult route through the B10s, I'd say his development has been minimal if any. And to reflect on kingstown saying finishing 5th w 5 AA would not be a terrible tourney under most measures... I'd say yes it would if talking Iowa wrestling... this is Iowa wrestling. Expectations from fans, coaches, wrestlers, admin is much higher than that. Now... if you're someone like Lehigh or UNI, maybe that would be "not terrible".

What if, of the 5 AA’s, all were 3rd-5th place. That’s a colossal failure. My hope is Mikey makes the finals and drake somehow beats the talented freshmen.

My worry is Angelo defaults out after losing on the front side, Mikey gets upset, and Ben can’t get mean and be the dog we know he can be.

It would be OK for Iowa to have a year like that if it was a rebuilding year and the future looked bright. However, that is not the case and that is the reason for all the hand wringing and concern. IMHO

I like our lineup for next season, love our new recruits coming and our 2nd year prospects. Our veteran guys are going to elevate make statements and Our coaches are going to be great along with a few really interesting addition. Lets Go Hawks!!!

I like your optimism, unless you're really painting it as sarcasm. I'm not sure about ours next year's team, as the really good parts of this year's team are going to be gone. What's coming back next year I don't see as a real strength. Who is going to elevate their game as you say? I haven't seen anybody really do that for a number of years except for caliendo. Who is going to be a threat for a national title? And I don't see any new recruit making an immediate impact. Deluca and Ludington are going to have to be big players and that's asking a lot of those two. And the portal is always a crapshoot, as this year totally proved.

Deluca is going to make a a big splash so will Ludington and we have Cruz back at 25 also. I expect Block to make another large jump in levels, he was sick this season and slowed him down. Peterson, Rhodes or Bowling should be able to make some noise at 133 and Bailey is back at 141. Ferrari and Gabe are title contenders and so is Kueter if he wrestles. Williams has another year but if he walks Estrada is gonna be rock solid at 49/57.

I also expect at least 3 major pickups through the portal and a few may shock the masses. So put that in your pipe and smoke it you rat bassterds.
I think 6-7 AA's with two champs will be good for next seasons building year.

Bowling?? Leister?? He's not close to 133. I think you're jerking chains here....gonna be a rough year next year.

maybe a bit, sure is fun though.
I do think we have some good things coming, so lets just enjoy our wrestlers competing at the show and wait for our true roster to happen before we start talking about next years lineup, shall we!
