The way this year played out was probably the best case scenario for the program. Satterfield did a really nice job rebuilding the roster and in recruiting. The way he left only cemented the fact he didn’t want to be here. That should limit the transfers.

Next year will be determined over the next 2 months. The roster doesn’t need to be rebuilt but it does have holes.

I can’t imagine they don’t get a grad transfer at QB. Not much on the front.

They need some interior OL dudes. Kendra leaving sucked. He is going to be a NFL player.

Not worried about skill guys they are literally everywhere.

Defense there are lot of good pieces coming back. There are some guys on roster that may be a better fit in the new scheme. We may see more transfer movement on this side of the ball due to change in scheme. I like who they brought over the weekend.

The right additions this team has a chance to be really good. Defense is the key. There are 4 guys that are going to be hard to replace.

It should be noted that our transferees who contributed the most, were those who were underclassmen when they arrived and enjoyed the huge benefit of having a year or more before they asserted themselves. Plug and play does not always translate into immediate results.

New guys and transfers take time to get it, hence our early struggles this year

Cycle; perhaps I should have inserted “impacted” rather than ”contributed”, as each of your aforementioned list did contribute at different points over the course of their careers, but as CFBM pointed out, most struggled early on.

The portal has clearly become a necessity for all schools, as the old 5 year plan, where a staff could bring in a HS graduate and redshirt him to acclimate to college, is increasingly unlikely.

High school kids at least the higher ranked ones are gamble because they will always have a market. As the transfer portal plays out I bet high school class retention ends up being 20 percent.

It maybe better to completely focus on portal for the skilled positions. I think the big uglies learn pretty quickly it takes time to develop. Also teams can rotate a bunch of DL. Oline can be the same way. My guess is their retention is better.

I believe you are correct Cycle, and from all indications Jeff has a huge group of portal transfers at the top of his list. I saw that list from another recruiting site that contained a most impressive group from all big name Football schools.. Interesting several have ties to Louisville and Kentucky for various reasons, which tells me that if UL can sign top recruits out of Jefferson Co HS., it should increase the chances they would finish at UL.

The one thing that is clear don’t lie about NIL. Don’t be shady about it. It will burn a program to the ground. I really like the Flyville concept each class controls their own social media, promotions, and gear. While I don’t know my guess is they will use Adidas help grow Flyville 23, 24 and 25. It is a business model as much as it is a recruiting one.

I agree recruit the highly ranked guys hard in the area if they come great if not there is a high probability they will be back on the market.
