Not sure what thread I said that Flo hates OK State wrestling, but maybe I was wrong. Just seen they predicted Spratley to finish 2nd this upcoming season. 125 is going to have another wild year. Last year I feel like the number one went down every week. haha

Full NCAA Predictions:

  1. Luke Lilledahl, Penn State
  2. Troy Spratley, Oklahoma State
  3. Richard Figueroa, Arizona State
  4. Matt Ramos, Purdue
  5. Anthony Noto, Lock Haven
  6. Jakob Camacho, NC State
  7. Jore Volk, Wyoming
  8. Stevo Poulin, Northern Colorado

How did they justify Spratley above Figueroa, Noto, and Ramos? Not saying he can't get 2nd, but those other guys have high AAs under their belts.

Spratley did beat Figueroa last year by I believe major decision. I am wondering why you didn't ask how do they justify Lilledahl over all of them! haha

Overlooking Figs because of a terrible start isn't smart. He's going to be a lot better this year. His back-end run is more indicative of who he really is. Had to get over some mental stuff and then he was lights out.

Definitely cannot overlook him. He was coming off an injury I believe. The kid is extremely tough. 125 will be extremely competitive. As a fan of the sport, I would really like to see Noto get a championship for a school like Lockhaven. Who was their last, Kolat after flipping from Penn State to Lock Haven?

My home town. Yes, Kolat was the last champion.

I’m guessing they’re putting a lot of stock into the freshman-sophomore jump + Gilman effect.

My prediction is: Lilledahl, Figs, Volk, Spratley, Ramos

Justification: what vhsalum said

Haven't seen much on it lately, so I am going to bring it up. All the transfers in, do they redshirt or wrestle this year? What is better for the team?

I am seeing Flo and Wrestlestat with Tagen listed at 149 this year. Flo's rankings have him at 141, but in the Redshirt update at 149 they state Carter Young will be battling Tagen for the starting spot at 149.
Does it give any indication about Hughes and whether he’s a 133 or 141?

I’d heard Tagen was given the choice. The roster will shake out from there imo. Cael dang sure doesn’t want to be at 33

I'm guessing Tagen has the upper hand over Young. Someone close could answer this, but if Young wins the spot at 149 it speaks volumes on the levels he's jumped bc Tagen was wrestling at AA caliber when healthy at 141. From pictures I've seen it looks like Young has filled out and put on a lot of muscle.

Will be interesting to see where Carter is at especially with Kennedy now in the room. Pretty sure Kennedy was THE reason Carter initially went to Northwestern before his firing made Carter decide to come back to Stillwater (the Kennedy-Northwestern deal is a whole other discussion on administrative foolishness).

Looks like Kennedy made out just fine in the deal lol. PSU coach and now OSU coach. That might be the most pleasant firing outcome of all time.

Tagen wins in the room 41-57. I believe the coaches really want Carter in the line up so regardless that Tagen can/has won the wrestle off look for Tagen 41 and Carter 49. Word is Carter has not only gotten much bigger and stronger but has definitely improved. Was told he was beating JW before he left.

Not OK State's lineup, but I am reading a lot about Sammy Sasso returning at 165 this year. He is an amazing wrestler and would have been a favorite at 157 last year if not for the cowards that tried to rob him. Honestly, I hope he comes back this year and wins a National Championship!

CP’s prediction lines up with what I’ve seen folks say here. 133-149 is a big ole “Who effin’ knows?” with the rest of the lineup pretty clear barring unforeseen redshirts or injuries.

Yep. We have a lot of talent there which is a great problem. My only hope is that they are able to decide the lineup and guys' weights early on - John seemed to get into shuffling the lineup throughout the season these last, I don't know, 8 years or so. I don't remember that being a common thing until the Joe Smith/Chandler Rogers fiasco.

Is it just me or Cody looks like he is pretty lean and ready for 197 lbs?

I think so. I’m excited to see him roll. I don’t think DT is messing around with all of these super seniors on the roster… if Cody is the best 197 then he’ll go. We’re going for it.

I'm not sure it's that simple though. You don't bring in a high end transfer without a plan to use them. If you end up using Merrill, what does that say about the decision-making process of the coaching staff in not being able to evaluate the kids on the roster before pulling the trigger on a transfer? If that high end transfer is getting NIL, it makes it even harder to not start them because you end up alienating NIL sponsors who just threw money away. Are there any examples of high end transfers not being used by the new team barring injury?

Now if that transfer came to OSU on their own with minimal financial aid and without recruitment, then that is a different story. I don't think that applies here though.
