NFL contacts vs. CFB/NIL contracts

NFL is pay to play regardless of record or league standing come playoff time. If your team is totally out of it near the end of the season you are contractually bound to play if told so, Not so in CFB as we see at bowl time with players opting out of the final game. Why in hell are they drawing up such contracts?

Because no one that matters cares about bowl games. They're all still playing in the playoff. A bowl game is a reward for a mediocre season. If they want to skip it that's good for them. The semester is over and they've fulfilled their obligation. It's not a difficult concept.
To add to this...rating prove fans don't even care about opt outs

Pay to play is not a difficult concept to grasp

Bowl games occurring after the season and semester are over isn't either but here we are
Kids have power...some have it written into their NIL deal so they do play (DDS for example) but most are smart enough to ensure that isn't included. Even many that do say they're injured as a way around it.

Right now ‘pay to play’ is prohibited in NIL contracts, so that’s why. Until college players are recognized as employees and schools collectively bargain with them, there isn’t much to compel a player to play if he doesn’t want to. Would be nice if a company could tie a bonus to winning a bowl game or something but not sure that’s allowed either.

Carson's answer here is really ugh. Miami might be between semesters, but not the best way to answer the question if that is the case. They are definitely not being paid to go to school.

The question does seem like a set up, but he could have just said ”my post grad whatever class finished fall semester“, or just explained he graduated UGA and took post grad classes to remain eligible at Miami. Instead he laughs at her.

Why would you donate to this? Crazy

To be fair, I think he was trying to stress that he has a degree but worded it poorly.

He may not be smarter enough to explain that though...
