I think the Auburn kids have had this one circled on the schedule for a year, I expect this to get ugly in the 2nd half. Somewhere around 35-7 Auburn. How good is Auburn? And does Boylan have a chance?
Wow! If thats the case, maybe J. Fagan would like the HC job at Boylan next year.I think the Auburn kids have had this one circled on the schedule for a year, I expect this to get ugly in the 2nd half. Somewhere around 35-7 Auburn.
I'll clarify with "Rockford" Auburn next time for you non-native types, haha.Auburn has not been the same since Cam Newton left.
Do you really think Boylan is well coached? I'm not an X's n O's guy, so I can't say for sure. I'm not going to keep bashing the Boylan coaches either. Also, Boylan has a lot of kids playing both sides, including the lineman.I watched the Auburn vs. East game on Hudl. Auburn is very fast, but it is going to be hot tonight and a lot of their players go both ways. I think they will probably handle Boylan, but it may be closer than you think. Boylan may be down this year as far as having the horses, but they are well coached which might keep them from being totally dominated. In the end, I think this game will say a lot about just how good or bad each team is compared to all the "expert" opinions.
Boylan 20 Auburn 6A side note....does anybody know the outcome of Boylan v Auburn frosh game?
Boylan most likely has the 4th or 5th best coaching staff in the conference. Wouldn't be shocked to see Fagan back there this winter.Do you really think Boylan is well coached? I'll preface this by saying I'm not a Boylan fan, I'm a Hono fan. I do, however, call them like I see them. How do you get 4th or 5th given the following facts? Appino is hands down the best with 2 state championships. After that, no other coach except Cacciatore, has ever won a second round playoff game. In his 3 years, he 's won 2 out of 3 second round match-ups and has as a quarterfinal win as well. Harlem's coach has never even made it to the second round and Hono's coach has never gotten past the second round. I would further add, that I had a son that graduated 2 years ago from Hono, and a have a son who is a senior now, so I saw both Appino's championship teams as well as Cacciatore's teams play and in no way was the talent even close between the two, so it's not like Cacciatore is squandering state championship talent.Boylan most likely has the 4th or 5th best coaching staff in the conference. It's hard to argue against this. However, the things I've noticed are, lack of discipline(i.e. penalties, personal foul calls), kids not going out for the team, stuff like that. Not so much the play calling. Or maybe that stuff is more noticeable because the talent isn't there to overcome those mistakes. Boylan's enrollment keeps shrinking, along with the talent level.I'll preface this by saying I'm not a Boylan fan, I'm a Hono fan. I do, however, call them like I see them. I totally agree that these are the best staffs, just not sure of the order after Appino. That's cool though. It takes horses and a good staff to win consistently and it is hard to determine which of the two is benefiting the most from the other. Here is how I would rank the current staffs.
1. Auburn. Appino has the best staff in the conference. Walked into terrible situation at Auburn and could win conference from now on every year that he is there. He could realistically win 10-12 of the next 15 conference championships there. Got his top assistant to come with him (Fagan), has gotten some young Boylan alumni to come with as well (his son, another player). From a system and playbook standpoint they have a consistent thing going.
2. Hononegah. Sughroe has a great thing going there (if he returns), 7-8 wins every year. I think they have made the playoffs 6-7 years in a row? You would know better than me. Numbers are very high in the program, an established playbook and system is in place.
3-4. North & Harlem. Harlem has made the playoffs I think every year since 2008. Has an established system in place, numbers are high. North is looking to make the playoffs for the 3rd year under a new coach. Numbers are improving, starting to turn into a yearly thing of playing consistent football.
I would put all 4 of those schools ahead of Boylan.
Cacciatore & Co....
Year 1 - 11-1
Year 2 - 12-1
Year 3 - 5-5
Year 4 - 0-2 so far, most likely will end up around 4-5 or 5-4.
Year 1 and 2 are filled with kids that have been coached up by appino's system, year 3-4 are kids that have gone through Cacciatore's system. Yes talent is down, but the 5-5 team had Demry Croft on it who will play at Minnesota when it is all said and done and they only won 5 games. How do you only win 5 games with a 6'6 QB that runs a 4.6 in the NIC-10?
I'm in touch with some people in the Rockford area still, I'm in the suburbs now, but people don't fear playing Boylan anymore because they know they aren't going to get outcoached like in the past.
Always a mix of the two, but I would argue that good staffs can develop kids in the weight room and practice field so they can be in the top half of the conference every year.I totally agree that these are the best staffs, just not sure of the order after Appino.
