This could be the best NIC 10 conference in years. It is looking like every single week there will be great games and no games will ever being a given. From bottom to top any team can beat anybody. We could see a Jefferson win over Harlem or even a East win over Hononegah. Anything can happen this year in the Rockford area. There is no for sure team this year in the NIC 10. Here's my early predictions on the season along with week 1 predictions.

(Losses)
1. Belvidere North 7-2 (Auburn, Guilford)
2. Harlem 7-2 (North, Hononegah)
3. Hononegah 7-2 (North, Boylan)
4. Boylan 7-2 (North, Harlem)
5. Auburn 6-3 (Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan)
6. Guilford 5-4 (Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan, Auburn)
7. Freeport 3-6 (North, Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan, Auburn, Guilford)
8. Belvidere 2-7 (North, Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan, Auburn, Guilford, Freeport)
9. East 1-8 (North, Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan, Auburn, Guilford, Freeport, Belvidere)
10. Jefferson 0-9 (North, Harlem, Hononegah, Boylan, Auburn, Guilford, Freeport, Belvidere, East)

Week 1
Boylan 45 Belvidere 27
North 54 Jefferson 21
Hononegah 21 Freeport 20
Harlem 21 Guilford 14
Auburn 36 East 8

I'm surprised you have Auburn at 6-3. I would think they would be favored with a lot of talent coming back. Hononegah and Harlem should be playoff bound every year because of sheer numbers. I'm still predicting Boylan at 6-3, losing to Auburn, Hono, and Harlem.

Hopefully you are right and play improves. Bottom half of the conference has been really bad for awhile.

My thoughts.

Auburn is going to go 9-0, 8-1. Four lineman back, QB back, top RB back. Year 5 for appino. No way 6-3 is a possibility.

Bucs are that down, 2-7? Really?

North, Harlem, hono, boylan, guilford are probably all somewhere from 7-2 to 4-5. Who stays healthy is going to be key. I think boylan gets back to the playoffs.

East will be better. Hayes transfer for them is big.

Freeport should be better. Can they get to 4-5? Do they have any depth?

Jefferson? No clue.

Week 1
North big over Jefferson
Boylan close over belvidere
Hononegah close over Freeport
Guilford close over Harlem, is thIs an upset?
Auburn over east, east looks improved though

Illini,

Yes they did, but let's look at who they played to get there with the way the 1-32 fell. Hononegah and Reavis before they got slapped by Glenbard West. I'd be surprised if anyone makes it past round 2 again.

Auburn made the quarters last year in 7. Could get down into 6 this fall and make a deep run.

However other than them, doesn't look promising.

Jeffersons offense will be the best they have had in years. Running a offense that will be good for them.

Freeport will have a tough time getting to 4-5

The big part of this I want to cover is my Bucs. Around 30 kids on varsity. Offensive line looks to be low 200 lbs is the highest. Defense has to slow down their opponents in order to win games. Offense will put up points but I can't see them putting up 40+ each week which will need to happen with a small defense. My prediction is on the low end for them for sure but depending on how the rest of the conference is will determine if they return to the playoffs. No freshman team this year with 15 players who came out. At the jr high and Jr tackle programs numbers are not any better. These next years are going to be down years most likely which sucks because there is talent coming up but if you don't have the numbers then you won't win. A lot of two way players.

I honestly think North could take the conference this year. They have the size, speed, and numbers. (Just think if the town of Belvidere had one school how dominate the Belvidere team would be)

The conference will be between North, Hononegah, Harlem, Boylan, and Auburn. Maybe even Guilford. It's just a overall balanced conference this season it seems like.

What's with the sudden numbers drop? North still has pretty solid numbers at each level. And the enrollment between the schools is only around a 200 kid difference I believe.

Heard a lot of different things but none are good reasons for the boys not coming out. Could have a solid team if they all would come out.
