just wanted to add something irrelevant to the board!

We have threads on Neil brown (I K India understand this one somewhat) but everyone complained about hiring a coordinator and that's exactly what he was at the time

And Mike leach. Who wasn't available when we were looking but has a big following here

And countless in petrino. Who wasn't an option either.

So why not a saban thread. They are number one for a reason.

OK, I get it, but almost all of us are fans of college football, not just Kentucky football.

Saban is taking the SEC where it really doesn't need to go - and that is a one-team league. You can talk ebb and flow all you want, but when one team is so dominant, interest is bound to wane. Television ratings are not trending positively - the UK, Florida game was the lowest rated CBS 3:30 game in 11 years - and that will eventually hurt SEC revenues.

The last thing the SEC wants to happen is for football to become like basketball. The one silver lining is the fan bases at places like LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, A&M and Florida won't allow it.

Ummmmmmmmm what????? So you're telling me that Alabama needs to lower their level so the SEC can become more competitive? Get outta here with that crap. Not bamas fault everyone else can't keep up.

Its no different than what Spurrior did when he went to UF. He didn't win the multiple championships but he dominated the conference, he forced the rest of us to get better, which is what Saban is doing. Bama doesn't recruit like everyone else, they select about 50 kids to go after about half of them. All these Bama offers kids say they have are really invitations to camp and see if you are good enough to get a real offer. I personally don't think Saban is the greatest x and o guy to ever come down the pike. I do think he is the best at taking advantage of every rule and has to full support of the Alabama administration to do whatever it takes to put a winner on the field. If the president of the university and Saban had a disagreement the president backs down or is unemployed, that's how important football is at the University of Alabama. They put as much money into their program as anyone in the country. Bama football is serious business in the state of Alabama

UK and Florida being the lowest rated cbs 3:30 game in 11 years has literally zero to do with alabama. Are you serious? Have our fans dipped into this level of delusion?

When Florida vs. Georgia in basketball doesn't get ratings, does some whacko in Athens blame Calipari?

Having a team like Alabama gives everyone else something to shoot for. Just like the current UK basketball program.

But yeah.....Saban could very well be the best college coach in history.

- Neil Brown's departure was cheered when he left for Troy by many of the "experts" on here.

- Mike Leach was a former coach, has a lot of good memories here, and the rumor is he wants to coach here if offered. Who knows if that's true but that's the rumor.

- Bobby Petrino wasn't a candidate bc Mitch didn't let him be. He now is at our in state rival, has them primed for the playoffs in 3 years where as our coach is now just getting to a bowl game in year 4.

All these threads are pretty relevant to the UK football situation we are sitting in currently.

None of the threads are relevant. The only relevance they got is in the heads of some posters with an agenda and/or UoL trolls that gets a good laugh at the response they get. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

ESPN lost 600K subscribers in October alone. If you don't think broadcast sports are losing their luster, then don't whine when you pass out because your head is in the sand.
