What's up with this guy? We heard a lot about him when he signed, know he's had some injury issues but now seems to be the odd man out. Anybody with any info on him?

Firios was a kid from Florida without any other SEC offers or one from Miami or FSU. He was always an underdog to be a productive SEC LB.

Well laster got moved outside so firios must be solid because they aren't going to run with just 4 guys for the 2 inside spots. He'll play this year if healthy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him transfer. He's obviously been passed over and we have a hard time hanging onto our depth. These guys come in thinking they can start at lowly UK and when that doesn't happen, they bounce. Hope he sticks around.

Just becasue a player isn't on the 2 deep doesn't mean he won't play or that he has been passed over. It may have been a close decision. Also some of the upper tier teams rotate some spots 3 deep at times on defense. It's a long season, injuries happen and you need guys to step in. That's the reason we have had these mid-season melt downs in the past we didn't have guys that could step in. Depth is a nice thing to have, especially when you have guys with some talent at the 3rd level.

Geeze, UK fans sometimes. Our defense is thin as it is and we already having this kid being written off as a has been before the season even starts. I hate to inform you folks, but we're not Alabama just yet, shoving off talented kids to make way for the next five star. :(

We did last year. Forrest played every snap at Mike.

Nico is a good football player. Says something about the competition at LBer. We don't have a ton of experience, but I am not sure we have had this kind of competition for the depth chart on past times.

Ridiculous thread! Looks like Nico is running 3rd team right now since earlier charts listed him above Kash. I read somewhere comments about Kash having to learn the system.
Look's like Kash has picked it up. Nice to have some depth. Love is a beast and Kash has great promise. Hope all stay heathly.

To offer a partial explanation of my original post consider this: Firios RSed his fr year. Last year he was on STs but then sustained an injury about half way thru the season that caused him to miss the remainder of the year. Whatever the injury was, I don't recall, also forced him to miss the spring or at least be limited. So I'm guessing injuries severely curtailed his development. Here's hoping for better luck for him in '16, UK needs all the LB depth they can muster.

No matter how you want to view it..since Frios has been at UK:

1. He sat behind Forrest his first 2 years which is completely fine
2. Now he's behind a transfer who is a Jr on depth chart.
3. Finally, he's been passed by a true Fr at the same spot.
4. For any other spots on defense Frios could also play...probably WLB is most comparable and that is locked up by Jordan Jones and Eli Brown...a So and Fr respectively

I'm not begging him to transfer by no means...but the writing on the walls looks like a longshot to see Frios getting on the field.

Yes but you'd agree that if firios wasn't at least serviceable that laster stays inside. The,fact they moved him outside means Kash is progressing nicely and Firios is healthy and performing.... or he'd be ripping behind love.

I recall watching film on Nico Firios when he was being recruited in HS. He is a baller that plays extremely explosively. He got lots of solo tackles for loss and just blew guys to pieces on impact. Write me down as a Nico fan. I want to see him play on the same level that I want to see Kash Daniels play. They both kind of remind me of one another. Nico may be a little faster.

Firios is a sophomore. He has a big body, and he has some skills. Injuries have slowed his development, but at this point there is no reason to think he won't help. Counting this year, Firios has 3 more years of eligibility. If he can stay healthy, he will be a contributing player. But he isn't going to beat out Courtney Love, Eli Brown, or Jordan Jones, because those guys are better football players. I want to see Kash Daniel play a little bit before I deem him better than the returning players, but I have high hopes for Kash.

Of course I'd agree. That goes without saying. When was the last time UK had a viable backup at each of the LB positions? I can't remember when that could have been.

I thought he redshirted his first year and got hurt the next?

So it makes sense that he not only sat behind Forrest but every player on the team after the redshirt and injury, so what is K time trying to say?
