Nico's primary recruiter was mark Phelps assistant coach at Arizona, now fired for issue over shareef O'Neill transcript. Nico included duke in his final 4 with zona, marq and nova. Duke needs a pg the most with tre probably gone...also nico was a package with josh green. If green decides to reopen look for ol roy to strike again with a zona lock (little). I prefer nico over hampton.

It would be cool to have the Ginger Ninja, but he ain't going anywhere. Also, I kind of feel like Tre will come back for his sophomore year. He's a lifelong Duke fan - and he really could use some work on his jumpshot. Next year, he'd have a much bigger role on offense, specifically looking for his own shot a little more.

I'd love to get Mannion, he is on the up-swing, wouldn't be shocked if he ends up the 2nd best PG in the class behind Anthony. But he's from Arizona, he isn't de-committing.

Personally I'd still prefer Hampton over Mannion, but I prefer a sophomore Tre over any of them, including Cole Anthony.

+1. Give me a Sophomore Tre Jones

I am assuming that Tre is gone after this year. If not I will be surprised. How surprised? A little (slightly) less then when Zion said that he was coming.

Fantastic post! I’m not banking on Tre coming back but I couldn’t agree more.

I agree. However, I'm willing to take it easy on Tre.
He can have it easy....no need to match his brother with the FF MVP, just match Tyus with the Natty title.

Yeah, I don't care who's the MVP.....lets just win it!!!

I do think it would be really cool if Bokden just went nuts and won it!

My homeboy that stay in Frisco said talks are that RJ is planning on reclassifying this year. Little Elm basketball program is falling apart. Duke is definitely the favorite

Nico is Pace Mannion's son right? For some reason I was thinking Duke wasn't even in the running for his services. OFC

Getting him would be great as I believe Jones in OAD. But my guess is RJ reclassifies and signs with us.

Nico Mannion is committed to Arizona however with all the turbulence going on at Arizona a lot of their recruits/players have been de-committing or transferring. I'd be shocked if Sean Miller is Arizona's coach next year.

Regardless....not sure why Mannion needed to be discussed, he isn't coming to Duke. If a thread needs to be started, it needs to be called RJ Hampton. If Tre leaves, I'll bet everything that RJ Hampton is Duke's starting PG next year.

That would suck if they de-committed from Arizona. I think we all know Josh Green would end up at UNC (for 3 years), Roy sure can pull some horseshoes out of his *** with keeping players.

RJ Hampton just cut his list to 5 schools.
And duhhh...Duke is on it.
Duke, Kansas, UK, Memphis, TCU.

Rather have RJ over Nico. Personally hope Nico stays at Zona because they are a non factor these days towards winning a title.

RJ coming to Duke is what I think happens also. Kessler may reclass as well. Plus, I have doubts that Hurt is the lock to Kansas that people thought. That program is going through some rough times.

I think it’s a win win situation with Tre. We win it all this year he’s gone. We lose he’s back for revenge! :D

I think Tre is gone either way. After the mass exodus of 99, 2017 and 2018 I really don't think that way any more.

No way he leaves this year without a title. First round or not. Lottery I could see it. He ain’t following in his brothers steps without a title. His brother probally will be in his ear to stay anyway. I would think. Add in “he’s different” Always been a Duke fan. Plenty of his game to still work on. Nahhh id be shocked. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he came back WITH A TITLE to try to out do his brother with 2.

He’s also more of a life long fan of the NBA and millions of dollars. He can work on his jumper even more in the NBA where he doesn’t have to go to class. This seemed to be the same logic many used for his brother coming back but just like his bro HE GONE since he’s a lock first rounder. The jazz scout out here said he will not get past them in the first round if he’s still available

Sorry but players don’t view things like fans. Likely because they are smarter and know that your stock can fall much faster than it rises. You don’t turn down a lotto ticket because you didn’t get employee of the month like a family member did.

Did I not just say if he was a lottery he’d go? And are you saying he is a lottery? You saying his stock could fall? If so tell me how.

I guess he could just flat out forget he’s one of the best defenders in college and his shot/ decision making could get worse.....

I believe there is a 0% chance Tre comes back if we win a Championship this year.. so, I don’t want a Sophomor Tre next year..

I don’t really see any scenario where he comes back next year.. the ONLY reason I can think that he might want to come back, is to move up from a mid/late 1st round pick (which he will likely be at this year’s draft), to a lottery pick.. but I don’t see that happening.

Yea that too of course. I’m basically just saying not having a title could help the cause to come back pretty much. Put those 2 together he’ll be back!!!!!!!! ....(imo) lol

Wish I was wrong but he's gone. Bye bye. You can keep hoping for that if you want. But I'm not gonna torture myself like I do every year. :)

He’s leaving even if he isn’t a lotto. Duke was his dream school. NBA is his ultimate dream. Fans tend to forget that and think “oh this guy will come back if he’s not a lotto pick” but hats just fan wishing. I’m sure some thought that about Frank and duval as well and they weren’t even projected as first rounders

Ughh ya killing me. I’ll just say everybody’s not the same. 1 example Grayson Allen. :) You think he’s gone fine. I think he could come back. We'll see.

Not arguing about him leaving. I think he's much more likely to leave - just wouldn't be crazy surprised if he comes back. Also, there's a big difference between Tre and Tyus. Tre is shooting 29% from 3 - Tyus was shooting at 38%. Tyus had a reliable jump shot, Tre not so much. But his ball control and pressure on defense is certainly NBA ready.
