Is the current rule that NIL has to be totally independent of the college administration, AD and coaching staff? That is it is between player and the company with the NIL $$$ to purchase NIL value from the player. Is this the current rule, or has there been a change? So if some companies are not coming forward with NIL $$$ deals for players, the school really cannot do anything to make it happen. The school cannot direct these NIL companies to go pay $$$ to a certain player.

I also think the NIL $$$ must be for the player to provide service or some other type of use of their brand for the company hiring them, and that the $$$ cannot be for playing, performance in games or attending a certain school.

If a school got involved with directing these funds, wouldnt they be afoul of the NCAA rules and could be punished? That is not interfering with the player's right to get NIL $$, as the school is independent of the player and NIL company.

Every state has different rules. Tennessee just passed a bill that allows the collectives to work with the institutions and participate in the recruiting process. Currently PAs law is the most restrictive. We are working to have it changed, set aside or purged.
