Very interesting
So I think the short version is that OU is going to step up it's game with the likes of Ohio State, Texas, and LSU to get in the 20 mil range?Gov. Kevin Stitt Issues Executive Order On NIL Payments

No matter how much OU spends, it doesnt guarantee success or championships. Look at Texas or the Dodgers or Yankees as examples. This year the spending by Ohio St may actually pay off like it has for the Dodgers recently. We have to sell our soul to Satan in order to compete at the top. What could possibly go wrong!? SMH
After watching the last two weekends of the CFB playoffs, I felt that OU will face a huge task to belong on a playoff level. No matter how much OU spends, it doesnt guarantee success or championships. In the end, if we as fans want to see OU win another FB NC, we may not like it but its the only way OU will stay relevent in the new CFB world.

My only good takeaway came last night watching Texas lose to Ohio State.
With all the negativity surrounding OU football, having Texas (OU’s biggest rival) win a national championship would have been another black eye for Venables and his team.
Good post.I think we as Sooner fans collectively needed to see, that while Texas had made enormous strides under Sarkisian, they still haven't reached a top 3 program status. A NC would have potentially been the final step to move Texas into that elite status that Alabama, Georgia and Clemson have recently occupied.
To clarify my thoughts, Texas is a dangerous team and program, but i do not believe Sarkisian can elevate Texas to a level that Oklahoma cannot reach. That doesn't mean Brent is "the guy" as he has his own business to tend to but i genuinely believe there is a correlation to Texas' success and our failure or vice versa. We've never been the bigger program so to say, but for nearly 3 decades we have been the better one. And that window to reverse this course is shrinking. Not to say that that's a permanent problem, but now more than ever it's about the $$$ and that's something where we never have and never will match Texas. We have to be the better program in coaching, development and success. Sarkisian can be the next Mack Brown for all that matters.
I think next season is absolutely a make or break for Venables. Not that he'll necessarily be terminated but I think 7 or less wins will be the final testament of what he and his staff are capable of and that mediocrity or further back sliding are eminent. Hes going to have the defense to carry the load. It should be absolutely elite nationally and the stats better prove it. I'm confident that Arbuckle's unit will more than carry their weight and this should translate to more wins immediately and at least being more competitive against greater talent. If it doesn't...well I guess we'll have our answer.
Good post.
I’ve experienced OU in decline through most of the 1960’s (that included OU losing 12 of 13 games against Texas) and in the decade following Switzer’s resignation in 1989.
So now I’m experiencing the third bump in the road as OU enters the SEC with a broken program.
But I see a glimmer of hope with a new offensive coordinator, a new highly touted quarterback and the hope of a dynamic defensive coordinator.
OU recovered from its earlier meltdowns and I still believe it will rise from the ashes soon.
I believe OU will put forth an effort to not become another Nebraska or Arkansas. There are too many resources on hand to succeeBTW.
Either that or OU better be ready to payIf Arbuckle is an immediate success Brent better be ready to find the next one
Now "revenue sharing"! I'm officially done.
Very interesting
I would add South Carolina to that list BCSOONERFANI think even the rational side of me could see a big turnaround next year. With even a mildly better offense we could have beaten Ole Miss, Missouri, Navy and Tennessee.
