The one thing Mack has said all year is how young this team is. That being the case it seems like some BS to not accept an NIT bid. If the upperclassman don’t want to play then so be it, but these younger guys certainly could use the action. I realize the Covid protocols are tough, especially for this coach, but most of our team has had Covid so that shouldn’t be much of a deterrent. Really disappointed in Tyra and Mack deciding to throw in the towel on the season. That’s weak!

I agree for all of the reasons you stated.

But there is one thing my youngest grandson pointed out to me. We are next in line if any of the current field has to drop out. Could that be Mack and Tyra;s thinking? He says we could be the worst 1 Seed ever.

I think that only holds true until Tuesday or so... It’s not throughout the tournament.

That's exactly why I'm thinking UofL announced that so early. As a just in case.

My understanding is that the “in or out” decision for NCAA tourney teams will be made by Tuesday which is before NIT starts.

I know people don’t “want” the NIT, but there would’ve been some matchups that would be entertaining and competitive. It’s a 16 team field with respectable basketball conference schools. Declining a bid is a joke and as a long time season ticket holder frankly pisses me off. It’s as if playing as many games as possible matters more to the fans than the coach and AD. Bad decision and a poor look.

This is exactly it. And it just broke that UVA was exposed and has folks in quarantine. IMO we are going to play for somebody......just imagine the screams if the Cards get in and go on a run.....lol

Yea they changed the Covid rules all of the sudden. For the regular season - it was cancel and shut down for weeks on any positives. We shut down twice.

Now, that we are on deck to replace the first team out - it’s you can play with 5, so 7 can test positive and you are good to proceed. No one will forfeit.
