The NIT Championship is being played now. Memphis and Miss. State tied at the half. The 11:00 AM start time (12:00 Eastern) avoided competition with the NCAA quadruple header later. Makes total sense.
Here's what's weird though. For reasons unclear to me, they re-instituted the third place game. They're playing it at 3:00 Eastern - after the NIT championship. I have never heard of playing the consolation game after the championship. I guess ESPN wanted it that way. They must know no one will be watching it. I wonder why they are playing it?
