Washington Wizards center Alexandre Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, went through some growing pains on Tuesday night in a Las Vegas Summer League game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Sarr didn't score in 30 minutes of action, going 0-for-15 from the field and 0-for-7 from 3-point range. ESPN Stats & Information discovered it was the most field-goal attempts without a basket in Summer League action since at least 2017. He also shot 0-for-2 at the foul line. Despite the putrid shooting display, Sarr did haul in nine rebounds while dishing out three assists and blocking three shots in Washington's 82-80 loss. In three Summer League games, Sarr has averaged 6.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 blocks. He is shooting just 19.5 percent overall and 11.8 percent from deep. The Wizards are 1-2 in Las Vegas.

We had always heard it was a weak class for star power coming into college and that it was also a weak draft. The fact that the top 5 players coming out of HS that played college basketball were:

1. Isaiah Collier - 29th pick
2. Aaron Bradshaw - returning
3. Justin Edwards - undrafted
4. Cody Williams - 10th pick
5. DJ Wagner - returning

That is unprecedented. Edwards is the first top 3 HS recruit to not be drafted since recruiting rankings started. And now you have someone like Sarr struggling. Who knows what the future holds for a lot of these guys, but seems players ranked lower coming out of HS are going to have a higher impact than the top guys.

What stats are in play? Is it a points system or roto?

If you can't get Sheppard, then I don't think you could go wrong with Dillingham or Castle. I would also give some consideration to Clingan or Edey if you need those types of big man stats (blocks, rebounds, FG%).

Definitely Castle or Dilly. I’d honestly take Terrance Shannon over just about anyone outside them. Maybe Clingan.

I would probably lean Dilly for dynasty. Although, I'd need to look at each's team surrounding them (Dilly does have more talent that will command touches, but at the same time, the T-Wolves are going to compete and he will get lots of looks, even on the 2nd unit).

My problem with Castle from a fantasy perspective.. he can't shoot well, and that was on a pro-style offense that was made for open looks and movement. That doesn't bode well for year 1 of his fantasy career. BUT, being a dynasty player.. maybe you take him and ride it out, in hopes he fixes his shooting and turns into a true top3 player in the draft (or maybe TOP player in the draft).

Yeah I think he’s gonna be really good. I can’t believe I read people on here saying UCONN didn’t have much talent. I mean Castle and Clingan are as good as anyone, and Cam Spencer was a ridiculously great college player and still made the pros. Then Karaban who is a fringe pro, 3 guys from last years team went pro. Those were all time great squads. Their pieces fit together well, they played better together on both sides of the ball better than any team I watched all year by far. They won the tourney easily.

Also Edwards was used as a pawn by our former coach to make his agent happy. JE should've been a bench role player and was a 30 min a game player who gave pretty much nothing to the cause of winning most games he catches strays like Wagner because much better players sit the bench at the cost of our program to pump Cals 5 stars and their camps ego.

I grew up absolutely loathing Chipper Jones. Arrogant, cocky, typical Brave. But when he retired he said some really crazy sht about the cardinals it shocked me. Talked about playing in front of cardinals fans was a one in a kind deal. Gained a lot of respect for him, and of course looking back, we won’t see many guys like chipper or Yadi who stay true to their organizations and respect the game for what it is. I think chipper really matured as he got older and these days I like him fine. The two players I grew up hating just about more than anyone turns into players I have a lot of respect for. Kobe Bryant and Chipper Jones.

Funny story. Mid 2,000’s I was at the Hyatt hotel in STL and chipper jones was in the bar next to me. Saw him a lot back then and in the late 90’s, chipper had a different woman constantly on the road in STL. He approached a woman directly in front of my father and I and started hitting on her. She was acting disinterested and chipper said “don’t you know who I am”. She told him word for word “I don’t give a f*** who you are”. Chipper sort of chuckled and said okay then or something, like your loss type of deal and walked out.

Chip retired and said he’s gonna think nothing about baseball and hit the deer stand. I know exactly what he means as someone who played through baseball. Hard sport to get out of your head after you play so long and he knew if he thought about it it would kill him.

Is he? you could be right. Im not sure. I just don't love these system type players. Could Stephon Castle be the real deal? Or course. But he could also be a guy that thrived in a system that seemingly made everyone look great, while making their opponents look silly. That won't be the case in the NBA.

It's almost like, for the same reason I expect Reed, Dilly and Edwards to be better than expected because of our poor coaching.. I expect the inverse for Uconn. Its a round about way of saying Cal sucked and Hurley is legit lol.

People wonder why hs players want to skip college or have mysterious injuries that cause them not to play.

All 5 of these players would have been drafted in last year’s draft and would’ve been guaranteed several million dollars!

As long as NBA is willing to throw millions of guaranteed $ to unproven players then you’ll see more hs players hide away for a year or have mysterious injuries. (BTW- I think Vanderbilt’s injuries were real.)

I get that all teams are looking for the next Wemby and it was a weak draft. However, I’ll never fault a player for taking a guaranteed contract because returning rarely works out for end of 1st round players who want to try to move top of the next draft.

Take the guaranteed $ and work on your game at the next level!

Correct, but it was not just the Atlanta Chipper Jones. There was 8 other positions, depth, pitching rotation, and bull pen to consider. All and All I highly DOUBT Chipper was the reason the Braves only won 1 World Series during his time. Especially true in baseball, ONE stud player is not winning a WS. If you do not have pitching, you are not winning. Last I checked, Chipper did not pitch.
