No additional damage from Lowe injury

We can fault him for not planning for Lowe to get injured, but what bigtime pg was going to come here to sit behind Lowe?

When we look at it, Pope had Aberdeen and Johnson rotating as backups and tbh, that's better than what most teams have.

Look at Purdue, they have very little behind Braden Smith. Who does Houston have as a backup?

We were worried all summer about how Pope was going to find playing time for everyone, well, it always works itself out and it just did.

Give JJ a chance, he could be damn good if he focuses his game on assists, rather than scoring. It’s really not that far fetched.

But, I do wish MP found a way to land a star talent in the backcourt over the summer.
Aberdeen was brought in to be the backup PG when we lost Lewis. It’s just simply another tale of “we don’t have thing so mad”. In reality, there are only 15 roster spots and we can’t satisfy every unfortunate possibility with a reasonable roster addition. Going into the year, we had Lowe as pg, Aberdeen as backup pg, Chandler as a depth pg, Johnson as a depth pg. It seems that Chandler and Johnson haven’t worked out so far as pg, even though Chandler worked on his handle all off-season. It wasn’t like Pope decided we don’t need point guards. We can’t plan for injuries to pile up at every position—good players don’t want to commit to a school to be PG3 or get limited minutes outside of catastrophic injury problems.

I love DA but he is still more a 2 guard type and I think that's the role Pope got him for after missing on the guy that went to IU.

Lowe's dad says there has been no season-ending diagnosis nor any decision made. It also sounds like he has flown to Lexington and will get more clarity on the injury later today. It appears that they still are wanting to play. It will depend on Dr. recommendations.
How does one fly from Lexington TO Lexington? Did he just circle?

Thing is, it's an unfortunate injury that you can't really plan for.
There is no team in the country that wouldn't be greatly affected if they lost their starting pg.

He can play either role. That was why we got him. We built a roster out of versatility and guys being able to fill multiple needs in case of emergency. We can’t plan on season ending injury for every position each year. A lot of people upset that we built with depth rather than front loading the roster with studs….entirely inconsistent. The reason we built with depth is to account for injuries and that’s why I’m not throwing in the towel. We have guys to fill in as needed. Are they going to be as good offensively as Lowe? No, but they can do other things to make up for it.

Because his shoulder isn’t injured… His pride and ego are!

Sorry, not sorry that bothers some of you, but the Law of Averages says something else is going on.
Damn! I love conspiracies. Dude, spill. Is it space aliens? Like a body snatchers kind'a thing? Or maybe a CIA plot? Have some tin foil. I got this cheap at walmart. Pointy on top works best, like one of them Hershy things.

It amazes me that an analytics genius like Pope would not have a true backup PG nor hardly any other guard who has handles.

It amazes me that even a dumb *** coach wouldn’t have a true backup PG nor hardly anyone who has handles.
You seem amazed an awful lot to try and get away with insulting our coach’s intelligence.

Yep. Jasper as a backup paired with Chandler should allow you to at least steal some minutes for Aberdeen to catch chances to recover.

I'm not a doctor but just seems like it would be best to get surgery now since it will keep happening.

“I’m not a doctor” was the only relevant part of this since it is a medical decision. The team and staff will consider every factor that we don’t know.

Don't have to be a doctor to now these types of injuries once they occur have a bad habit of reoccurring as we've just seen and usually surgery is the only way to fix it.

This isn't Uncle Jim with his trick shoulder. For Lowe to be a healthy Div1 player it's probably going to need surgical intervention.

If it was that simple though, Matt Jones would not have been on the radio an hour and a half ago saying he believes surgery may not be needed. They may be trying to give it a go. I’m taking the wait and see approach on it

Technically, it may not. If you can live though popping it back in place every time, then no. However, each time it happens (and it will more than likely happen again) you risk greater damage and injury.

And yes we wan Lowe to focus on UK but he also has to think about the rest of his LIFE and his career too. And that doesn't make him selfish.

I'm interested to hear what these other methods are that will allow JL to play the rest of this year and have surgery after. Will these methods prevent his shoulder from popping out?

At least it’s not his shooting arm. But still, fighting through screens and driving to the basket on even the least physical of teams, will be very painful for him.
