I will always stand out of respect for the soldiers who were called to duty in the failed conflicts you mentioned. The failures were not due to the lack of sacrifice of these young folks. If someone chooses to piss on the honor of these folks, they have the right to do so. I don’t like it, but that’s part of what this is about.
It needs go no further than this post.
The thing we stand for is to respect those who fought for everyone’s right to sit or stand or do anything.
If others don’t want to stand, I don’t respect that decision at all and don’t like it but it’s their choice. You want to be Iran?Start forcing people to do whatever you say and forced nationalism.
I think if we were doing better as a country societally this wouldn’t be an issue.
These people should be educated on the fact we’re standing in honor of the soldiers, not the president, or congress or anything else.
But even with that being true, as my granddaddy told me and I’ll always follow, “you don’t have to respect the man, but you do have to respect the rank.”
