why do all you people think les miles is going to turn this program around when he can't score 20 points a game with heisman trophy level players and 5 star recruits at every position. We got a guy that would take the job in a heartbeat that won 10 or 11 games 3 straight years at texas tech with the worst facilities in the conference in the middle of nowhere in lubbock texas and then he goes to wash state and wins 9 games last year at a school with the worst facilities in major conference football and he hangs 50 and beats nike university tonight but nobody wants to give him any mention because he's not a kiss *** and i realize our chicken **** AD won't hire him but maybe if we can get a new AD he would bring in the only man for the job THE PIRATE. And he wants to come it would be a big step up for him . Les miles won't put in the effort here he has already won a national championship and he knows that isn't going to happen here so he just wants to pad his pocketbook for a few more years before heading off to a life of luxury . CAN MITCH AND STOOPS AND BRING ON THE PIRATE .

Miles - No.
Leach - No.

IMO, much better choices if we have to let Stoops go than either one of these two.

I agree with you mitch wouldn't hire leach because he has nuts the size of blueberries and about as much knowledge of sports as most of the people on this board that support him. Did he even play sports ? mike leach won over a period at texas tech with the worst facilities in the conference taking the recruiting leftovers of texas texas am oklahoma and beating there *** before he left and winning 10-11 games a year with a bunch of guys that very few went on to do anything in the NFL. His recruiting wasn't any better than ours is right now and he had texas tech in the top 10. Then he wins 9 games at wash state last year with probably the worst facilities and support of any BCS conference school. AND he wants to come here and would stay and would not bolt somewhere else if he had a couple good years. Cal and barnhart are not even on speaking terms cal can't stand him. I have an idea lets hire Kyle Macy as athletic director everybody in the state likes him never heard anybody say a bad word about him , he is 100% BIG BLUE he would be a great ambassador for our athletic program that is respected all over the country. Then we bring in a guy with a proven football background and name him asst AD and his only responsibility is turning around this mess of a football program. How bout that fellas get rid of blueberry balls barnhart and lets get this ship going in the right direction all we need is Macy and the pirate and we will be well on our way.

I like Mike Leach, he has already been here as an ast. coach and OC. He has a style that would cause problems for a lot of teams.
Agree he would gladly come here, and would probably do pretty well, if he brings in a decent DC, he would energize the fan base !

For the record I'd take Leach over Stoops anyday. He has proven he can win and went 9-4 last year. Not sure he can make a bowl game this year though looking at the schedule so he has been inconsistent there and lost to I-AA teams more than once at WSU.

My post was more to say perhaps not the best time to bring him up as they are not exactly tearing it up this season so far, although they did beat a down Oregon yesterday.

The Pirate lost to Eastern Washington his first game this season.
Beating Oregon by 20 is beating Oregon by 20.. they may be down but it's still the same culture.

I want Art Briles Id be content with The pirate.. I will be upset with Les, Brohm, or Brown.

Leach is the type of coach that might piss you off a few years in a row, then on out together a 9 or 10 win season and a show. He's unconventional and really talented. He'd be a perfect fit to get uk off the ground.

If you seriously wouldn't take Miles or Leach right now, in our situation with the AD in place, please stop watching. You aren't helping.

So when Oregon loses 7 or 8 games this year will you feel the same?

Leach maybe,Miles wasn't getting anywhere close to the maximum out of all that talent at LSU but he is going to do wonders with all the talent at UK?

Would take Leach in a minute. Mitch would never hire him though, Leach is too unconventional.
Sadly I agree that Mitch would never hire him but I'm really over what Mitch wouldn't hire. Mitch wouldn't hire Calipari either. Still it feels to me that Leach is starting the down side of his career. I'm not sure he has another good run in him. We should have hired him after Mumme left and again after Brooks left. We blew it both times. I fear those days are just gone now. That's going to go down in UK lore with the "why didn't we hire Schnellenberger" decisions.

For the hundredth time, Mitch had nothing to do with Cal's hiring. Dr. Todd would not approve the hire due to the UMass and Memphis issues. Intermediaries on UK's behalf convinced Dr. Todd to reconsider. Cal flew to Chicago during an NCAA board meeting to meet with Dr. Todd. During a nearly five hour meeting, Dr. Todd agreed to hire Cal. Can we now please put the hiring process behind us?

Dr Todd may have needed convincing as well but there's no question that Mitch didn't want Cal either. Even if Todd had no objections MB would have still hired Gillispie. This fits a long pattern of MB type hires.

Then Mitch didn't do his job the first time. If Mitch had done his job he would have convinced Dr Todd that Cal had been exonerated in both cases and that all of the rumors about Cal were only that, rumors.

The only thing that changed in the two intervening years was UK had a maniac for a basketball coach.

Oh, and Dr Todd was the man that gave Mitch that ridiculous contract while walking out the door. Thanks Dr Todd. We have two incompetents with insane contracts.

If Leach did at UK what he did at TT they would erect statues of him, name the field after him, the stadium, the parking lots, and streets. Nah, we can't use a man like that.

for the idiot who asks what schools leach had texas tech in the top 5-10 for 2 years with no better talent than we have with the worst facilities in the big 12 at a school that had been a bottom feeder for years and then he won 9 games at washington state with way worse talent than we have and again the worst support and facilities in the pac 10. for all these les miles bandwagon people yea he would be better than stoops but hell he can't score points with 5 star players at LSU what makes you idiots think he is going to come up here and get the job done with a inferior talent every sec game he plays with the exception of vandy. And all these people that think because we get a top 25 recruiting class means we are going to be a top 25 team are living in lala land . if we have the 15th best recruiting class in the damn country but are sill 11th or 12th in the sec all that means is were going to beat the turds worse and maybe we could be competitive against pertrino but that doesn't look like its working out very well. they will beat us worse than Alabama write it down. do you mark stoops rah rah guys realize last year that we had to throw a fade pass to the corner to beat a terrible EKU TEAM WHO's coach got fired. should of been 4-8. Stoops should 0-5 against KY SCHOOLS. He is awful. we need a coach here who can win with less. That is not les miles. Mike leach has proven at 2 schools he can consistantly beat teams with less talent. thats what we need here because we are never going to recruit on the level of the elite SEC programs. The lack of knowledge of people on these boards amaze me

This is laughable. Compare Les and Mikes record man. Anyone who wants Leach is smoking some good stuff. I want more than some gimmick offense and crappy D. If you keepnGran and hire Miles, look out. We could be damn good and fast. One rhing I will say for Stoops is he has imoroved our recruiting considerably

I see the same people who ***** and complain about Stoops losing to Southern Miss wanting Mike Leach who lost to an FCS team to start the season to be the next hire.

Be consistent. Hypocrites.

Well, lets see if Stoops can win even 7 games this year - you can forgive, begrudingly of course, losing to and FCS team if you win 9 games. I'm only asking Stoops to win 7 - heck I'll even take 6 at this point!

Go Big Blue!

Mitch would wet his pants anytime Leach walked near him. So you will never see Leach as long as we have Mitch. Kentucky can only win in the SEC with a Bear Bryant or an unconventional guy like Leach. We have a better chance of seeing the Bear on our sidelines (again) than we have of seeing Leach.

I couldn't agree more! I've been a huge advocate for hiring Mike Leach ever since Guy Morriss left. The man knows how to field a winning football team from scraps and has won at places that are historically tough to recruit to and have some of the worst football facilities in the nation. Think about what he could do at UK with the facilities and school support we have now? Not to mention he helped create the air raid offense with Hal Mumme. The guy is slightly crazy too, and I think we need someone like that to make UK relevant. I predict that if Stoops is cut loose after this season and Mike Leach is hired, that we would be experiencing 8 and 9 win seasons within his first 3 years at the helm.

I CAN NOT speak more emphatically about this: Mike Leach SHOULD ALREADY BE COACHING HERE! He loves Kentucky and has spoken numerous times publicly of his desire to return to the bluegrass state. He succeeds at schools that are considered the door mats of power 5 conferences and fields tough, winning teams with scraps. If that doesn't spell Kentucky Football then I don't know what does. Mitch has dropped the ball on this not once, not twice, but three times. If he allows this man to get away a fourth time then MB should be immediately fired because the man is clearly not doing his job.

Whats sad is that if Mike Leach had been hired back in 2003, I think he'd not only still be at UK, but we'd be a perennial 8-9 win a year team by now.
