We know more about the virus and who it can impact. We have treatment options. We have rapid testing. Oh and now we have a vaccine.
We barely have a vaccine and right now college athletes are way low down the list of who is going to get it. Also, rapid testing has some accuracy issues. There are really good reasons to pause the season and not play Russian roulette with the health of these athletes, and others affiliated with their teams.

I think K is doing the right thing. I say focus on conference play only, anything that even slightly is less likely to reduce chances of a breakout. Only problem is media, fans and even other coaches love to jump on K for his actions, even when he's right,Ha, not worried, K not going to let it bother him. OFC

I agree. We also know Coach K is human. He also knows his team. I can appreciate him getting ahead of the narrative and explaining his position.

In the end, I hope this works out.

Its 1 game...a cupcake game...and why try to reschedule those 2 other games in the midst of the ACC season....the kids have been away from home since july/august essentially in a bubble....they aint dipping out on the 20 game ACC schedule

Coach K is giving up some easy wins. He's doing it because he cares about his players. That's all there is to it. Anyone who disagrees...well you are entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong.
Isn’t the Bubble the safest place for them? Being at home around several different family members is way more dangerous. Actually would be safer to keep them playing.

Without getting political about it (and I can see that's where it's going), it's going to get better before it gets worse and Coach K wants these kids to be able to see their families before they hunker down for another 3 months of hibernation. Apparently many other coaches simply cannot see past their own little worlds and don't appreciate K's concerns about his team's mental well being.

We are seeing a decrease in some areas with mask mandates. So wear a mask.

yes where they are is probably the safest at the moment, but if no one at the homes is sick, that physical place is safe as well and that they stick to immediate family within their homes....im sure they will be given directives.....they have been in this bubble since july/august......keep playing?, its one rescheduled game that was previously cancelled that they are cancelling to be able to make this happen....some home cooking and immediate family may be just what they need

We've never gone into the Christmas break with a losing record. Not even in 94-95. At least not since the mid 80's when I began following Duke. The next two games are big if we want to make the tournament. Yes there are bigger issues here, but I'm trying to focus on basketball.

Those kids need to go home and spend some time with their lady friend and then they’ll come back different. Watch! Coach K and the coaches don’t need to leave the facility until they figure out a competent offense

SHUT THE PHUCK UP

+1

We apologize, Duke fans, for @IowaHawkeyeFBnBB4Life. Our village idiot tends to roam. He is talking about his antics over on this site on our board. He has been reprimanded, but unfortunately our redheaded step child has a mind of his own.

Also, if any are interested, we have an Off Topic board popular with FSU and UNC fans. Pretty much anything goes--politics, religion, bikinis, whatever your interest.

Happy Holidays.

I have a pregnant wife to worry about. There’s too many idiots out there who don’t care if they make others sick. Honestly, I could care less about somone’s business shutting down. Keeping my family safe is my business
Then take your own precautions and be as vigilant as you feel necessary for you and yours.

They are in the safest environment with the safest protocols that they can possibly be in. You think these players are going home and locking themselves in their rooms if they aren't playing and involved in ncaa protocols? You don't think they will have an exponentially greater level of exposure? Come on

So about this bubble. Do they get to go to the mall, out to eat and enjoy themselves at all. If so then how is that any different than going home to family?

Seth Greenberg defending Coach K?!! What has the world come to? This has gotta be the twilight zone!

It's 2020. We've seen just about everything now.

We could kind of see this coming if we were looking close enough. I'm disappointed like everyone, but it is what it is....pertaining to the cancelation of non-conference games. I would agree that the safest space for the players is on campus....I also understand the need to see and be with family, but that applies to everyone, not just these players. If you have a family member in long-term care and/or a nursing home, there's a good chance you haven't been able to spend time with those folks, either for the past eight months.

I see were Cal is having the whole team over for Christmas dinner. That would be against the mandate in NC.
