Stephen Johnson is a good competitor, but he just isn't even close to being accurate enough to make this offense truly lethal. It's a shame, too, because this is the first time in awhile that Kentucky has had a near dominant run blocking offensive line to go along with a stable of good running backs. While our receivers aren't great I think they're good enough to make our offense deadly if we had a QB that could deliver the ball consistently. Unless Johnson improves significantly in the offseason, we better hope that Hoak/Clark can play (I don't think Barker is coming back from his injury anytime soon). Turnovers also have to be cleaned up.
Our front 7 was a concern coming into the year, and the way they started the year did not to alleviate that concern. They did perform better in the middle of the season (partially due to poor competition), but now they've returned to playing like garbage. Outside of Jones we have no LB that seems to do well against the run consistently, and Middleton is the our only lineman that even has the potential to make an explosive play. Kentucky needs Kash to come along at MLB and Kengera Daniel/TJ Carter to develop on the D-line if we're going to improve next year. I have no idea what UK can do about the nose tackle spot, but I don't think Pringle is the answer there.
