What a dog **** sport.

So what did we do for a warmup and run some drills? Did we do nothing and just do the layup line 5minutes before tip off.

I have to say, in a sport that's about momentum and finesse, not having a shoot around is a pretty big deal. Kind of explains why we played like **** in the 1st half, huh?
Jack said they had to try and work at the hotel. Vandy called them 1 hr before they were scheduled

Was driving home from a Tournament this afternoon and Goose/Leach were discussing this at the Half/before 2nd Half. Goose said it was "uncommon" and both were hinting how trash it was from Vanderbilt's perspective to pull a stunt like this. Goose then repeated that it was "NOT Kentucky's fault and this came up with such short notice" and alluded to how they had their pregame prep scheduled and had to alter things.

This is complete GARBAGE from Vanderbilt. I don't think it decided the game--they made plays, UK didn't-but that doesn't take away what a low class goober move from their program this was. Ridiculous.

Definitely not a classy move by the Vanderbilt coach to adjust his shoot around times after the schedule was sent

But

If your Kentucky you adjust to what's given to you and take the slot before or after Vandy and get your players on that court before they have to compete.

I know that's not an excuse for the Williams, Brea, Butler no shows but 27 points in the first half shows their game day prep needs work.

Ain't that the truth. This is my biggest gripe with Pope. The guys are never ready to go at tipoff.
Maybe he has anxiety.

Everybody above this post that **** on the coach should GTFO.
Can't UK go to the league or NCAA about this, or is it just a matter of needing to return the favor in Lexington? I hope we destroy Vandy. Wonder what Frieda's Boss has to say about it?

yeah and Cal got bashed by our fanbase for that then Pope does it but gets a pass
Cry harder and good luck accomplishing anything. 90+ percent of UK fans have the sanity to see that Pope has us way ahead of schedule in this transition year. By your 3rd grade logic, the Vandy coach is better than Rick Barnes since they beat them.

Nah, if he had the option to move it and didn't, that's still on the coach. When you're someone else's guest, you have to be amenable to them.

However, considering we were up 8 with around 5 minutes to go before we imploded, I really think anyone blaming a lack of shootaround is just irrationally playing the blame game.

We lost because we are soft, won't play defense, have key players hurt and lack overall talent.

Well I don't know about anxiety :)

But your gripe is justified

I can't say that it's ALL on the coaches. Sure they can try to set the mood, put an emphasis on energy and focus, good pre game routines etc.. but it's still on the individual player to get themselves physically right and mentally focused before the tip.

We have some players that appear to have developed some bad, lazy habits over the years, maybe because they were the best players on rosters of mediocre teams.
