No tailgating

A friend of mine called the BJC to ask about tailgating (socialize , have a drink or a snack, not a big party) in the morning after parking and in the afternoon, between sessions. The transportation supervisor who is in charge of parking said. Absolutely no tailgating of any kind. If that's the case, there are going to be alot of unhappy fans from all over the country.

I looked at the parking pass and all regulations/FAQ’s online and cannot find it printed anywhere.
It baffles me why they would not. But nothing with PSU parking ever makes sense.
For the outdoor hockey game they were selling passes for $100, there were whole with tents set out taking up two more spaces. I know they did not pay $300 for that right. Why do they hate wrestling?

What are they going to do to stop us?

There was no tailgating at MD, and we rocked that joint.

My ParkWhiz pass clearly says no tailgating so the license plates are kept clearly visible

Just a reminder to anyone new to parking at the BJC, license plate must be facing out for the parking enforcement truck to be able to scan as it drives by.

I sure hope this will be reconsidered. I know of several poster who are planning on big tailgates for all people. Poor decision by BJC/PSU powers that be!

That is prejudice against wrestling fans. Someone has to start a protest 😂

I totally agree with everyone on here. We have a group of 5, with 2 vehicles that have paid parking. We were/are not planning on a big party, but.....wanted to get there early for decent parking.(parking opens up at 6am) gates to get in the BJC doesn't open till 8:30. We just wanted to make some breakfast sandwiches and have a couple drinks while we wait.
Between sessions we planned on staying in the parking lot and making a quick lunch on our table top griddle and having a couple drinks. We have plenty of trash bags lol, and much respect for others trying to navigate the parking situation.
What do they expect everyone to do when we have to exit the BJC between sessions? I mean to try and get out of parking to go get something to eat or kill time (if you have enough time to eat with everything close being crowded) and then to get back in before wrestling starts, will be a total **** show. I know there is Uber/ lift but seriously come on BJC.....I really hope they fix this before Saturday.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy watching some great wrestling this weekend! We Are....

There was plenty of tailgating last year during Olympic qualifier at BJC & we had no issues and did not witness any enforcement.
I think this ParkWhiz thing is new. Really stupid........pay in advance, use your phone when entering the lot, then they don't need people driving around checking plates. Plus then you don't have to park facing in......way easier exit.

I have parking all day for $5.60 and get treated like an 8 year old. Why not charge your standard $25, make some coin, get em in and then get em out.

We keep going backwards............

PSU, with regards to parking, is absolutely stupid.
You would think that with the experience of having 100k 6 times a year for decades would give us some efficiency. But I swear it keeps getting worse, despite no real increase in attendance.

So there’s no truth to the rumor that lionlover is in your party and is bringing dancers and a portable stage? 😀

That is the worst parking. I parked there and I was the last one out of the lot.
The closer you are to the arena the longer it takes to get out. I park out on the end and get right out. The last time we got out of the ohio state dual in less then five minutes. I felt like i committed a crime lol

This is probably a crazy idea, but does anyone think it is feasible to leave the lot after session one to go get something to eat? Would we get shut out of parking spaces when we came back for session two?

Talk about disparity of treatment. PSU won’t allow 18,000 fan tailgate for day for wrestling and 1/2 are PSU fans when their home team is looking to run away with the title and repeat again as national champs. Yet they will let over 100,000 tailgate for a night and a day for a football team who is barely mediocre at this time no offense to football. And over 30,000 of those at a game are from the opposing team. And include all th students that tailgate and half of them are underage. That is disparity of treatment. And this is not to offend football or that underage drinking happens everywhere. Just pointing out some facts.

A couple summers ago my wife and I went to the Little Big Town, Stapleton & Straight comcert in Charlotte. We stayed at a downtown Hilton or Marriott and walked about 5 or 6 blocks to the stadium. Each cross walk area had multiple cops positioned there, they would stop all traffic and everybody in mass would walk. Then a couple blocks down all foot traffic would stop and cars would move. It was very efficient, very practiced. After the concert the same precision heading back to the hotel.

At Penn State, each big event is a new singular happening. Not something practiced dozens of times. It is always a new, cluster f#$k experience to be performed as though it has never been done previously.

It kind of scares you when thinking this same University without common sense is teaching your kids!

Nah. The professors and instructors I have met and or befriended over the years and the administrators I have known are two different animals.

If you're in charge of parking enforcement, and the one driving around the lots scanning license plates. I would do that while the session's going on versus between sessions, when people are possibly leaving and moving around the lots. Just my 2 cents

In Philly last year, and I understand the parking complex is different than PSU, there were a lot of people just hanging out between sessions. Bring a small cooler and walk around the lots. Bring a koozie or cup if that makes you feel better. No way they'll be able to enforce anything, especially if you're not stationary at your car. I can't imagine they're clearing the lots between sessions right?

I stay at the Hilton by the airport in Charlotte, then take an Uber over to PNC. It's the easiest experience there is. Plus, all the bars outside of the venue. Boardwalk Billy's is awesome.

We stayed 3 days. Explored the downtown area. I really liked it. My wife, who given her preference would just go out to camp and stay, wasn't a huge fan. She enjoyed the heck out of the 6 hour plus concert, but wasn't nearly as curious as I was about experiencing the downtown.
She likes Charleston, New Orleans and Austin.
