No way UVa deserves a 1 seed

Fair or not, Justin Anderson is not now and will not be, 100 percent. The committee can and should consider that. Wisconsin has been much more impressive down the stretch. Barring a UW collapse in the B-10 tournament, UVa should fall to a 2.

If Duke wins the ACC tourney, the committee has a convenient *out* as far as sticking Wisconsin with UK. They could still put UVA in the east as Villanova's #2, ship Duke to the South with Gonzaga, send Wisconsin out west with Arizona, and have Kansas head to the Midwest with UK.

Won't happen. UVA will be UK's 2 seed for the same reason Wisconsin will be or would have been...geography preference for the top 2 seed. There is no real argument that UVA is not the top 2 (other than Arizona which is irrelevant geographically) over KU and Gonzaga...meaning they get placed closest to home.

This is what the chair said they would do...and what has been backed up with stats on here from posters looking at previous years' tournies in recent history. I hate it Erik, but it is what it is.

That is why Nova losing 2nite would have been huge.

They are real anal about mileage...and that is not the issue as I said. The issue is why will the committee ship the 2nd 1 seed in Duke all the way to Houston with Syracuse available now?

Then it becomes Cleveland vs. Houston for UVA...and that is a massive difference.

YA! Houston's like 1288 or so miles as birds fly and stop to poop along the way further for UVA. Looks like its down to Syracuse and the east regional or the midwest as our 2 seed. Not good for us if they stick UVA in Cleveland, but hey, I am expecting the usual unreal regional they put together for UK. I'm consigned to our fate, but we'll just have to beat them all in the end.

Honestly, I say let the NCAAT SC screw with us all they want. We're on a mission.

Go Big Blue !

Even if your scenario proves true, I can live with that. I'd rather face Virginia in the Elite Eight than Wisconsin, Arizona, or Duke. If the Cavaliers take Kentucky down, so be it. If we lose to their style, we never were meant to win the thing in the first place, as far as I see it.

If Duke is now the the 2nd #1, do they get put on the other side of the bracket, making it a potential Title game? Basically asking if the two best teams are generally placed on opposite ends.

That is where a lot of folks say it will end up.

I would say so

They certainly want duke to last as long as possible and having them on our side of the bracket means a guaranteed exit if they made it far enough to play us

i think he also said that if Wisconsin wins the tourney or Arizona wins, they could move into #1 seed.

If Duke is the second 1 seed, they play in the East. Durham is closer to Syracuse than Houston.

I have a feeling they will do it this way if Nova, UW, and Zona win out:

Midwest
1. UK
2. UVA

East
1. Duke
2. UW

South
1. Nova
2. KU

West
1. Zona
2. Zaga

The committee is looking for any reason to keep Zona and Zaga out West.

Zona wins out, they get the last 1 over UVA and UW. UVA fans may complain, but since they get to stay close to home, they should not feel slighted.

They will keep UVA close to home in Cleveland. This can be justified since UVA is the highest 2 seed now and Cleveland is their closest site. Plus they won't want to put Duke and UVA in the same region, so Syracuse is out for UVA.

UW has to travel a little further and go to Syracuse, but avoids drawing the top 1 seed. The committee doesn't have to listen to the talking heads question them putting UW in UK's region.

Nova has to travel, but gets arguably the weakest 2 seed. Minimum travel for everyone except Nova and Nova gets to stay a 1 seed and avoids going out West.

I think every one of the top 8 seeds would like that.

UK stays close to home, has a slumping UVA team as their 2.

Duke gets to go to Syracuse.

Nova gets to stay a 1 seed and avoids playing out West.

Zona gets to play close to home.

UVA gets to stay close to home even though they fall to the 2 line.

UW avoids playing the top seed, doesn't have to go out West.

Zaga doesn't have to travel East.

KU gets to stay close to home.

I think that is how it plays out if there are no more upsets for the top 8.

With the committee being so anal over geography, any team out west worth a spit ball that doesn't make the final four should be automatically disqualified the next season. Jesus, Zona and the Zags? That's garbage.

How many times has Gonzaga been a #1 or #2 seed in recent years and not made it past the sweet sixteen?
