Hey Cal, our Kentucky freshmen played FEARLESS!

Pope confidence in those freshman is paying off.

And Calipari didn’t even recruit Noah.
As a fan base, we need to get to the point where we stop talking about Cal and Arkansas all together. The past is the past. Time to move on.

I’ll give them props, but Perry remains a huge liability on the defensive end. Whatever shots he makes are nullified by the amount of points he gives up.

Love Noah. I trust him to hit the open three more than anyone besides Brea.
I didn't understand why Pope sub in both perry and Noah, and pulled butler and oweh. He has a way to go as a coach IMO. I understood taking oweh out for Noah, and perry for butler. But not at the same time! Keep one strong guard in there!
Imo it was a very dumb move with 16:00 to go in the second half to have a lineup of Brea, perry,Noah,Almanor,Garrison on the floor. Lead was cut from 9 to 3.

Now he gets to teach oweh how to run point!

I think it's been a blessing that Coach Pope has been able to let these true freshman get real run this year. The previous regime both Perry and Noah wouldn't of seen a minute of SEC play.

I won't comment on the sub pattern as I'll agree at times it's perplexing. I can only think that it's to give guys a quick breather and get these young pups up to speed.

I haven’t seen the hate about Noah. For sure they will be contributors, but Perry will never play a ton of minutes with how weak he is defensively. And I’m not sure there’s that much he can do about it.
He can build a ton of strength and develop spacing & instincts. Never had to play defense until now. He used all his energy on offense and rested on D. Won’t ever be a lock down guy but he’s smart and will be able to become a capable defender once his body develops. At least I hope so.

Honestly didn’t see the happening against a top 3 defensive team. I think this proves Pope designs an offense that takes advantage of the strengths of his team but also shows he can develop his players. Something that the man that yelled along the sideline (I didn’t say coach) never did after 2015.

also as i always said with oscar.
if you got a guy that good you have to as acoach scheme a way to keep him on the court. cal couldnt do it with oscar. i hope pope can do it with perry.
as he gets older he will only be a better shooter........wow
Yeah, I think the issue is he doesn’t have the speed and agility to keep up with the point guard, but he doesn’t have the size to cover the SG.

I just don’t think he has the body or athleticism or quickness to ever be good enough to stay in front of SEC-caliber point guards.

I think we’ll be fine giving him minutes during nonconference play, but I just don’t think you can have him in there trading buckets against real competition. If there is a possession in which Perry’s man does not blow by him, it is simply because Perry’s man didn’t try to.
He is a freshmen playing again guys that have been around for a number of years. He is going to be fine.

Your dislike for Perry and the need to disparage him doesn’t make sense. He’s coming along and his defense wasn’t nearly as bad you’re saying. Relax
Exactly, and that little piss ant 🐜 Zeigler is a really tough match up for anyone. Won't go against many as quick and crafty. He will figure it out in the future. I remember when John Pelphry was a freshman here and they had him trying to play some pg and bring the ball up the court. It was brutal and he couldn't play a lick of defense, but by his Jr/senior years he was a great player here. Pitino even called him a poor man's Larry Bird. Coach Hall always said the biggest jump a player will make is between his freshman and sophomore years.

Pope realizes how important it is to have good shooters on the floor at every position. Teams have hurt us for years with those kinds of players, now we have a coach that knows that and will recruit accordingly.
It seems like all Kentucky coaches need to learn the lesson that kids from the state can be extremely valuable. They may not be 5 star All Americans, but many would give their heart and soul to be a Kentucky Wildcat.

It was average. Atrocious is being silly.
It was pretty bad. It’s not effort. He tries. Just EXTREMELY limited laterally. Couple that with not being long (what helps Brea) and he just gets abused. When he hits shots and limits turnovers, he’s playable. Like tonight. And good Lordy it was fun to watch.

8 like Perry more as a 2 guard spot up shooter. Ds rough. Noah looks strong. I just wish we had another PG with no Kerr, Butler, Jrob. Just a guy like Mintz to play point would be huge. Perry isn't there yet.

I tend to want to believe this. Hell, if Farmer and Ford could, why can’t Travis. Granted, it’s a different era but I think it’s valid.

Amazing game by both. Four years of these two and they’ll have a shot at being alltime favorites of BBN. Especially after only having 1 rotation player stay all four years over the last 15 years.

I mean, this is spot on. And I was saying this in the game thread.

Pope does some dumb *** **** following media timeouts. In past games, it has led to a loss. Tonight we were fortunate that it didn’t.

After a full media timeout, there’s absolutely no reason to run Travis Perry out there.

Pope needs to not be so attached to giving guys a certain amount of minutes, etc. He needs to do more situational coaching. Butler’s defense was elite, and we needed as much of him as possible. If he’s not tired, you play him. And he certainly was not tired after a full media timeout…

Keep up the negativity. Perry will get better on defense as he matures. He’s just a freshman.
It’s not negativity just calling it the way it is. I hope that in the minutes that he does get going forward, he can offset his defensive limitations with great offense. But currently his presence on the defensive end hurts us more than his presence on the offensive end helps us.

The thing that impresses me most about Noah is how he always knows where the ball and the other players are; when it comes to court awareness he is already elite, not just for a freshman.

Noah and Perry can make shots from the perimeter. That skill is always going to be a huge plus and has it's place on the court. We've suffered in recent history from having multiple subs and even starters who the opponent could totally ignore.

Perry takes that next step when he cuts down his rate of "WTF was that?" passes.
