Huskers got word yesterday that Vedral has been granted immediate eligibility and was flown to Evanston for today's game.
Have you seen the wording or rationale the NCAA used to approve the appeal?

I heard that he is starting over Martinez today so Martinez can redshirt and recover from his knee injury.

Wow. Wonder why?
I am guessing when applying for the waiver, we used the argument that the transfer rule is unfair advantage to schools on the quarter system and left us in a bad spot and unfair that a player can transfer out and we can't transfer one in. In this case it's even worse because the kid is already here but ineligible.

How can that be an even playing field??

That's the angle I would take. The NCAA might have had good intentions but wound up with unintended consequences. Didn't think it through very well.

How is his eligibility set up in this case? does he still have 3 years after this year if he plays the rest of the year?
I think I would still try to not let him play in more than 4 and be able to redshirt. Obviously we're going to go with Martinez, I am saying don't play him unless we need him to win a game. Don't throw him in just for mop up duty.

How many quality reps does he have if he was projected to be ineligible the entire season. Was he running scout team all year?

Suspect he will be #3 emergency

The decision seems like a rough precedent to set, but I wonder if they had taken this long to make it like an in between, rather than setting the precedent at the start of the season.

I have no idea what their justification was. Maybe some dude found his filing in a stack of paperwork on his desk and looked at it finally and thought, "Nebraska has been a dumpster fire this year, so maybe they could use a little good news and.........."

Well, it was a little bit our fault. We filed for the waiver after we found ourselves between a rock and a hard place when a Qb who shall remain nameless transferred. It took the NCAA 6 weeks. Long time but not that unexpected.

The NCAA sucks so bad in worrying about the best interest for the kid. How does something like this and Drew Ott’s case take so damn long?

My recollection is that we filed for his eligibility a while back, but then didn’t pursue it. The paperwork had already been filed, and so when Gebbia left, we renewed our efforts with the NCAA. But I could be wrong.

You could be right. I just remember at the beginning of August reading an article quoting Vedral saying they were not going to apply for a waiver=an appeal.

Then we have tranfer-gate and the waiver is applied for.

Ucf supporter here.

Don't really understand how the rule worked in this case, but best of luck to Vedral, Frost, and Nebraska.

Vedral didn't see much PT last year, but has the attributes Frost wants (mobile, quick release, makes good decisions). His arm strength is suspect, but again he didn't see much playing time.
