Run a true motion offense with pass/screen-away, screen wing to post & post to post. Once that is established the posts open up, flashes to short corner, corner 3 or step in 3's become avail.

This season K ran 1-4 high with slips screens & high ball screens effectively early in season but never went back to it tourney.

If we run post to post screen for Bagley against Kansas in E8 possession before they hit 3 we go to Final Four.

When K has come to a fork in the road, sure there have been plenty of times he's decided to go left when I think he should have gone right. And most often he is correct in the decision he makes and it works out, hence the elite program that is Duke. But here and there Duke loses and I can claim "if they'd only gone right, we would have won...."

In the end, we can all offer ideas, but there are good counterpoints to all of them. I started a similar thread a week or so ago and I offered up some ideas for the program to handle things differently, while I typed them I was thinking of rebuttals.

Point is, it's fun to criticize and offer different paths that could and should have maybe been taken, but in the end, as a fan, you just have to hope you have leadership of your team that will make the right decision at the fork in the road more often than not. I think in K we can all agree we have that at an elite level. We're spoiled but winning a college basketball championship is really hard, you just want to be in the hunt each year and here and there the basketball gods will give you the breaks to allow you to be the last one standing.

I don't know what I'd do differently.

We'll officially never hear from sky again if he sees this.

If we are choosing from this board, I would assemble a 3 man "Dream staff." It would be aged based. There would be a fan in their late 20's to mid 30's. You know, the cool guys. They would be an assistant though. Not ready to lead anything, even though they think they are. Then the associate head coach would be an ofc. Man, they've seen some sh%* in their time. Keeping them awake will be the hard part. The head coach would be someone in their 40's. They still have some learning to do, but they've grown up a lot, and would be more open to listen.

I think the dream staff are the three mods

After a game it’s easy to point out the problem and suggest a solution. If Coach K could forward into the future and watch the game they played, then rewind to pre-tip, he would also have the correct solution. I can break down all kinds of games X’s and O’s over the past few years, suggest a solution in multiple paragraphs and put all of you to sleep... Or I can stfu and tell you to watch post-game pressers because the GOAT knows best.

Side note — I know myself (and nearly everyone) has posted remarks about what we could have done better. We’ve all posted opinions and read others. That’s what a message board is for: discussion.

All of these post and still no one has told me how they would have won at least 2 or 3 more national championships that Coach K has. Look he has been in so many title games starting in 1986. Surely some body out there would know what could have been done about Never Nervous Pervisit or how they would have kept Grayson's shot from rolling off the rim or made sure RJ hit both those free throws against Texas Tech. Come on guys remember how many times it was said "this one's on K " this season. But yet no solutions on how they could do better.

As much as I love to throw in my 2 cents, I’ve been “The Guardian of Coach K” since the loss to MSU it feels like lol. I know my place. Discuss and ponder ideas all I want, but nobody knows better than him.

I think the biggest thing people fail to realize is that K can’t snap his fingers and make the team shoot it better. It may seem like we shot too many 3’s but they packed the line because they didn’t respect us from outside. Sure, RJ rushed a lot of shots. I get that viewpoint that folks have but K’s hands are tied in that situation.... “Hey RJ, I know you’re 1 of our only 2 scoring creators but I’m going to need you to shoot less. Let’s wait and see if anybody else can do it better first before you try.” Lmao - I don’t know what people expect.

Sky I will take a shot on the '86 loss. Obviously Bilas had NO CHANCE of guarding Pervis (despite his brilliance), so I would have doubled down on him in the post. Certainly couldnt have hurt....OFC

As I mentioned, over the last decade, utilizing a gap defense instead of a deny defense ALONE would have given us a much better chance to make The Final Four every year we didn't. But I'll highlight 2013, 2011, and 2017 in particular.

How many more national championships do you think we would have won if you were coaching Duke? OFC
