North Davidison vs Central Davidson

This is a tough one for me. I really thought ND was a bust this year but they have improved by the week and got a huge win over OG. I don’t think they have the experience this year as they have in the past and this game is probably too close for me to really call but I will. Central has been very impressive but against a lot of weaker teams, however they beat a really decent Ledford team. I think if any team North or OG can contain Casilac and keep him to under 100 yards they have a good chance of a win. Unfortunately I don’t think North has that ability in them this year so reluctantly I’m picking Central by 12.
6 turnovers equals snowball effect. It was one of those nights. Granted North lost to every 4A school they played but starting with conference play they have cleaned it up. Alot of that is playing MC and Asheboro but OG was supposed to be better this year and North still pulled it out.
I'm happy for Central. They looked like a dead program and the doublewing is my personal offense of choice if you want to start a program from scratch to give yourself a fighting chance against better talent. Central has plenty of talent this year and their system is perfect for the kids that come out of Southmont. West Davidson should do the same. And Lexington should go Single or Doublewing and start from scratch imo.
But what do I know lol. I'm just a guy that has obsessed and studied football since I was reading NFL biographies in Northwest Elementary lol. I just like to talk football and like most fans may or may not be correct from week to week.
I'm looking forward to this game. Central is undefeated this late in the year for the first time in who knows how long... Maybe the 70s? They haven't beat ND since 2005 but they definitely have their best chance this Friday. And if they do it's a great story about zero to conference title. Much respect to Trivett for the work he has done.
It's all about the defense imo... Who stops who better? North spread vs Central phone booth rugby style. Great contrast and creates lots of interest and storylines.

Central Davidson has won 3 conference championships in football since they’ve been in existence. 1977, 1978 and 1979.
Tonight will determine if they can claim at least a share of 2021’s title. If they win, they’ll lock up at least a tie.

Those championships were around the time that Henry Walls and Edgar Pickett was going to Central Davidson.
Central took up nearly the entire first quarter on their first drive and are up 7-0. North in Central territory to start the second.
Central stops North at the 14 after an incomplete pass to the sideline in the end zone. 7-3 Central after field goal.
Big run by Casilac for the TD. 14-3 Central, unsportsmanlike penalty to take place on the kickoff
North scores a TD while trying to penalize themselves out of the drive. 16- 14 ND with 4 mins in the half
And ND comes right back with a big pass for a TD. Neither defense wants to play so far lol... 2 point conversion makes it 24-21 North with 57 secs left in the half
North plays good D at the end of the half. Central doesn't try to pass but gains no yards. 24-21 Knights at the half
It's Senior Knight. Lots of emotions, never mind the stakes for a conference title. It's been a good battle thus far. The fumble on the kickoff helped ND get momentum going after getting down early.

Aided by an illegal shift on Central, North D makes the stop. Central punts again. North ball at their own 43 with 46 secs in the 3rd.
Casilac back in the game for Central. They need him, but more than that they now need big plays. 10 mins to go and counting
There it is. Casilac with the big run, refusing to go down as ND players try to strip the ball. 38-28 ND with 8:45 to go
North recovers the onside kick, and a personal foul on Central puts the ball at the Central 35 for the Knights
Big pass play where the receiver refuses to go down, dragging 2 CD players ten yards into the end zone. 52-28 ND with 2:48 to go
Game over. North wins at least a share of the conference title with a 52-28 FINAL

Central was exposed tonight. As some suspected, they have a good offense and no defense. If Oak Grove stops them a few times like ND did, OG will win by a similar margin imo.
Also, it probably didn't help that Central started jabbering after going up 14-3. After the unsportsmanlike conduct, they were outscored 49-14 the rest of the way. Food for thought...

I think OG has a good chance of winning but not by the same margin much closer game, but just an opinion.
I’ve thought since day one of the season that CD was a fourth place team in the conference. I could still be wrong. They could finish tied for 2nd. They weren’t winning this conference this season under any circumstance.
OG looked good tonight and appear to be strong where Central is weak. I agree with the poster that stated that it will be crucial to stop CD a couple of times. If you can get a couple of scores up on them they don’t have a style that can play from behind very well.
Well, actually, Central could end up being co-champs of the MPC if they beat OG and North screws up at Ledford next week.
