Have to hope nobody gets hurt (on either team). Otherwise more discussion may be about what Thomasville was back in the day....

Thomasville was a proud and a dominant program when I played at ND in the early 90s. It was an honor to prepare for them and the chance to play in the "10-0 bowl" was a highlight of my high school memory. Cline and Allen were as big a part of the matchup as ND and Tville. I have the utmost respect for both. Would still walk across a crowded stadium today just to shake Coach Cline's hand and remind him for the 500th time how much I appreciate/appreciated him. Used to do the same thing with Coach Lambros, great men who were hard as nails and who deserve every ounce of respect they receive. ND has been blessed to have both of them. It makes me sad....Lambros passing is a reminder of how much times have changed, the game has changed, discipline and accountability have changed, players have changed but regardless of anything else it is a game we have to win. Don't care how old or sappy that makes me sound. I love the offense(s) and fireworks of today, but miss the savage/toughness of some of those ND teams.

Hoping for a safe, and injury free game. I still have a great deal of respect for this once dominant program. I still think about MY one shot at that ND-T-Ville "10-0" bowl, even though it was a loss, was a great experience. Pretty neat to think of all the talent on those teams, AND the two Great Coaches on the sidelines.

Never got to play Tville in high school, wish we had instead of the directional schools... But in middle school Coach Everhart was always like, "them Thomasville boys are quick, them Thomasville boys are mean, ya gotta get ready for them Thomasville boys..." Lol, I loved it and he was right. Thomasville was the only team in the county we ever worried about.

Coach Brown is the greatest football coach this area ever had. Watching his teams play had a tremendous impact on me as a coach.

As for the game itself, we will probably dominate. I hope everyone is injury free and it's a clean, classy game.

Thomasville/ND was always the biggest game in the old 2a/3a CCC,boy I remember when tville lost the conference championship game at ND back in 91,that was a heck of a game,it was Lamont Pegues Vs smiley Wagoner, that was a very physical game,I believe both were held in check yards wise, back then and for many years after that,I always took tville losing very very hard,I couldn't sleep, wouldn't watch the highlights(lowlights) on the tv or read any news paper until the following Friday or until the lose was out of my system.

I haven't been going to tville games as long as other tville fans,my first game was tville vs starmount in the west final back in 1990 and tville won 10-7 and I was hooked after that.

It's so hard to watch what has happened to one of the most storied programs in NC HS history

Who will score on North Davidson, in your opinions? I think Salisbury might, Ledford may but may not... Lexington?

I am not to worried about the scoring/shutout streak. Somebody will score, especially in games like Salisbury or Lexington or Ledford. Could happen before then with younger or less experienced guys getting quality minutes basically the entire 2nd half of the last 3 games.

I don't think anyone thought the ND defense was going to be this good. Getting Jackson back in a few weeks will only help. Offense continues to get better, I am very pleased with QB play. He just looks more and more comfortable. I knew TJ would have a huge year and he hasn't disappointed. If anything, special teams has been our biggest let down or surprise so far this year. If we can get all three figured out by playoffs, could be playing into December which is all you can really ask a team to do. Can't win a championship if you don't make it there. So much talent in 2A, a lot of football left to play and I'm looking forward to how good this team can become.

What is so impressive with this ND team is the defense. North has really been bad defensively, IMO, over the last SEVERAL seasons. However, it seems Coach Flynn has totally changed that this year. If you are a running team, you will find it VERY difficult to run on this defense. North has two studs on defense, #99 and #33 (Defensive Ends, who also play in the middle on some plays) who stand around 6'3" or 6'4" and they have long arms. Very hard to get around those guys. The QB play has improved DRAMATICALLY since the 2nd half of the Davie County game. Kid has definitely gotten into a rhythm and seems very relaxed now. T.J. Boyce is a STUD!!! Nothing else to say about him! I am VERY impressed with Coach Flynn and his staff and what they are doing this season, but everybody in the ND community knows that Coach Flynn was the right guy for the job as soon as it was available.

I believe North was very young last year on D, and competing in the CPC with the high variety of offensive styles put them through the ringer. They're better for it though, the competition isn't as tough but the D proved itself early against Tabor, Davie and Asheville. Now we're waiting til playoffs to meet a high powered offense... South Point fits that bill, but we may go East... Only time will tell.

60-0 ND...could possibly be the worst bulldog beatdown in school history
I saw what I believe to be an accurate depiction on another thread about another game....."they'll score on every one of their possessions and probably a couple of ours". A score or a stop by Thomasville will be a moral victory.

Heh, I knew a guy who was real tight with Smyle Wagner back in about 91. Nate Byrd, played a year or so at ND, was an absolute killer on the basketball court. Talked about Wagner like he was very very special talent and dynamite on the field. One look at the rushing records indicates he very well was.

Like Blackknightnut, always wished we played Thomasville rather than say East Davidson back when Thomasville were winning states, but alas was not to be.

Spread offense, 50/50 run and pass. Good WRs, great running back, good offensive line. QB was a big question mark, as we graduated the best passer this school has ever had last year. But after a tough 1 1/2 games, he's come along nicely.

The Defense is basically the same kids as last season, minus a couple to Graduation, and a couple injured players. Coaching change has helped, and another 1/2 season of experience has really been well for these kids. They haven't faced the toughest offenses the last few games, but have still been impressive, and continued to work hard and improve. I have been very impressed with The QB as the season has progressed. He has made few mistakes since that first game with Tabor. He looks to be getting more comfortable back there, and looking more and more confident. I believe most of the ND fans knew that we had a very good Talent at RB, in Boyce. The Kid is tough! Then with a confident QB finding his rythm, and many talented WR's, The O can be potent on any given play. Just hope the kids stay focused, and working hard. Excited to see how this season plays out. Looks to be several very good teams in 2A/AA this year! Have watched some Hudl highlights of ED, they look very solid as well.Goodluck to yall and may meet up later on this season, never know how things play out!

Also can't forget about the Big Guys in the trenches, The O-line has been opening up some massive holes for that ground game. Also have kept defenders off the QB very well! The D-line has been in the backfields causing disruption on team's passing attacks. They have been beasts against the run. Special Teams look to be okay. Kicking game is very strong, I am not sure how many kick-offs Dunn has put in play, other than a few on-side kicks, Can't recall many being returned. That Kid has a monstrous leg, and is very accurate.

Smyle was a heck of a back, the most complete back in ND history vision, hitting the hole catching the ball, blocking etc is McKoy now playing at West Virginia. The most talented back bar none was Sean Tuttle who played for Bill Butts. With the right attitude and work ethic could have played D1 anywhere!!

Our punt coverage is a weakness. The way Dunn can punt I'd angle it out of bounds each time. Really hurt us at Mt. Tabor.

Meh, we're good. Not predicting a state title just yet. But East Davidson has looked pretty good the last few weeks after playing us and we just wore them out. The defense has been the big difference, night and day compared to last year!

Christopher is 34/35 on touchbacks this year, had 1 pooch kick and 3/4 onside kicks recovered. Caught one ball fat a few games ago and hung it up short of the goal line, otherwise perfect on kickoffs for touchbacks. NC State record is 85 in one season, hoping to break that one if possible this year. Have to stay healthy, keep scoring and make a deep run in the playoffs. Hoping for 10 touchbacks each of the next 2 games. If all that happens, would be great to walk away with a ring and a State record.....

His percentage is horrible this year. 4/9. There are a lot of things outside of a kickers control and I will leave it at that. Just hoping they figure it out before playoffs because eventually it could come down to a FG.

They should be for 2A. They are a 4A school playing in 2A. A new school (Oak Grove High) was built and just opened that will make N. Davidson a 2A school in a couple of years. Not saying this complaining, just stating facts for those that might not know.

Due to the change to 20-30-30-20, they actually would have dropped to 3A with this reclassification, even without the new school. So they are a school with big 3A numbers for juniors and seniors, and big 2A numbers for freshmen and sophomores.

I have heard, with the growth in the area, that they may end out with small 3A numbers even after the new school is fully populated.

I think most of us ND fans would have been happier in 3A ball. Unfortunately, most of the 2A schools locally are not having their best football years recently.

It's a little confusing to me how numbers are projected for a four-year realignment. In North's case, it appears their numbers were predicted based on the numbers at the end of the realignment. If a school has a clear trend of losing students yearly, is that also projected?
I don't in any way blame North for their current classification, but it seems to me that schools should be playing in a classification where they are at the beginning of the realignment time frame. After all, that's the only number that is close to being predictable. In Thomasville's case, they reported a number in September that was sixty students larger than their numbers the following April. That's a change of almost ten percent. I'm not making excuses for the Bulldogs' decline. Just don't understand how the state can predict any school's population four years out.

I agree with you. I've said it all along that after the four year cycle North will be small 3A so I really don't understand why they just weren't put in a 3A conference. My guess is $$$

If North had been assigned to 3A, what conference would they likely have joined?
