What year did the playoffs start doing a north/south split? In Wilmington's '03 runner up year was that a N/S? It appears that it was broken into quads? Who remembers the logic of quads?

I remember in '09 the IHSA did a weird cut in 8A to jerk us out of a #1 seed, some sort of diagonal cut.

Depends. That team was the tale of two teams. Get dominated by LP and steamrolled LWE. Even the playoff loss to DGS, complete domination in the 1st half and a dud in the 2nd.

IHSA has done some weird stuff. In 03 time frame they had 4 quads but random draw for semis. I think they went to straight geographic quads for a while. Then to the 1-16 north south as we currently have. Before quads it was 1-32. Before that it was secret backroom IHSA matchups with no seeds.
