I am not melting. In fact, if you have read my previous posts you would know I have been consistant in my believe that the American is a one bid league and Tulsa needs to win the Conference Tournament to erase all doubts come selection Sunday.

Saying I am melting down, doesn't make it true just like me explaining this to a brick wall doesn't mean the brick wall will understand it.
Then why are you even talking about this game making a difference if you already thought we werent going to get an at large, no matter what. SMH

There are a couple of you that are glued to the fact that we have to win the tourney to get into the dance. I am with I.I. In saying that we can have 2-3 losses and still get in. This north Texas team is not better than us. Sometimes you will just have a bad game. We had that today where we just didn’t shoot well and that weird barrage of fouls at the 14 min mark.

we play UNT on 1/28. I expect to hand them a humiliating loss. We are home to USF on Saturday and then go to UAB and Charlotte within 8 days of USF. The. Memphis at home. I wil adjust my way of thinking at that time if we are not 5-1 in conference play by 1/22.

until then I am a firm believer we are the best team in the conference and that we will be dancing in March.

The way see it, is if we lose 4 games in conference it is doubtful but still possible. If we lose 3 it is definitely possible for an at large. If we lose 1 or 2 we will get in no matter what happens in the tourney. The defense this team has is our kryptonite. I don't find this loss as unexpected. That's why I didn't put in a prediction. I thought it could go either way. But I don't think the same of our home match with them.

I want the refs for that game to have to watch how the refs hosed us in the last 14 min today.

Well, an undefeated conference season might have made a difference. I held out hope this team could do that.

It's not just "us"... it's all non-power confrences or the traditional basketball power houses that generate a ton a revenue.

This is all about money and population available to watch your team to drive revenues up.

Of all the road games on the schedule, this was one of the more easily winable ones. Because if Tulsa matches up poorly with UNT they match up poorly with half the conference. Tulsa cannot afford any bad games, the margins are more thin that they ever have been.

I don't disagree with the general belief you are talking about related to power conferences. But arguing it's over because we lost to N Texas is just not true.

I'll wait to judge until we play most of UAB,(Jan) FAU, USF, & Wichita St on the road. Most of those games are in February.

Right now I'm concerened with how we do when USF comes to Chapman. That will be another game with a stronger 5 than we have. If we lose that one, then I will start to be concerned.

We have to beat South Florida and Memphis at home. I thought UNT would be the hardest road test. They are now 18-1 in the Super Pit over the past two years and undefeated this year. They have a nations top 10 defense but have lost some games (Memphis) on the road due to officials and poor 3 point shooting. But we have two problems that threaten our NCAA chances:

(1) We may have the worst interior defense in the conference.
(2) We don't have an offense that always gets our 40% three point shooters open shots. (Barnstable) (Popoola)

That's all. Otherwise our game is 5*. I think there is hope on the coaches devising some plays for our shooters.

yes, yes, & yes

Their tough d is harder on us because we dont have a 5 to help stop it. All the other top teams in conference have a better 5.
