No refs showed at the game tonight. How could this situation be handled after Northumberland taking the long trip for nothing? Will it be a forfeit on surry side ?

Northumberland gets the official victory due to a Surry forfeit (as far as I understand it).

Good news- NHS starts 1-0 and suffers no injuries. The bad news, of course, is the players and coaches really wanted to play (drove a four hour round trip plus preparation etc.). The loss of the vital game experiences is a major bummer and does not help the team's progress,

Just saw the other post, if that is the case that the game is now rescheduled, the game should now be played at Northumberland High School.

Nope the game will be held back at surry tomorrow. This is clearly unfair to the Indians

I agree with you 100%.

This inconvenient "mistake" is all on Surry. They should forfeit or they say "I am so sorry, but we still would like to play, may we travel to play you at Northumberland to make up for our costly errors?"

Agree Coach Lewis and staff definitely have their work cut out for them to get their kids back focused and ready to play

I hope Northumberland destroys Surry. Did the Northumberland kids really ride all the way back last night & they're coming back today? That's brutal.

Who is to blame for the lack of referees? Surry AD?

I think Nm would have to file a protest or play the game under protest in order for it to be an actual forfeit

Very unfair. Did Northumberland actually make the entire trip or were they notified of the postponement, before or during their trip? I can't imagine why anyone would expect them to make the trip twice. Ridiculous.

Northumberland was there in pads and all. Drove 2 buses. With about 40 or so fans in the visiting stands. And waited there for and hour and a half to get the news of no officials.

There's no excuse for that. Surry absolutely should forfeit. I know it isn't the Surry players' fault, but there has to be accountability somewhere. I wonder what the excuse was for the officials not showing up.

What a mess. I'm sure the players, especially the seniors, want to play the game. Somebody has some explaining to do.
