Hard to believe that the last week of the regular season is here!

Northwestern

South Caldwell @ Alexander Central

It has been a season to forget for both teams. AC should win this week and will have a road game in the playoffs.

Alexander Central 42
South Caldwell 20

McDowell @ Freedom

What started as a promising season has spoiled for McDowell. Poor defense and turnovers (and better competition) have done them in the past few weeks. Freedom offense should feast.

Freedom 54
McDowell 20

Watauga @ Saint Stephens

Can Saint keep it close? Watauga has been cruising but will be tested a bit more this week.

Watauga 42
Saint Stephens 21

Mountain

Asheville @ Enka

Asheville will look to build on the last 2 weeks and look to go into the postseason on a winning streak.

Asheville 41
Enka 20

Erwin @ North Buncombe

Right when I thought Erwin could get some momentum, they lost another tough game. They should win this week, and could be a dangerous lower seed.

Erwin 36
North Buncombe 14

Reynolds @ Roberson

It all comes down to this in the mountain conference. Can Roberson win the conference for the first time in a long while? Reynolds has been playing better, and Roberson continues to improve with a young team. Hard to go against the Rockets in these types of games though.

Reynolds 28
Roberson 21

Here's some fun trivia: Watauga has won 46 conference games in a row. Their last loss was at Saint Stephens in 2017, 26-21.

Freedom just needs to handle business and will get the 4 seed for the 6A west playoffs. Right now, that means hosting Olympic in the second round, but the ACR/TCR game can shift things a lot below us and I'm curious to see how it all plays out. If ACR holds on, it could mean a rematch at Freedom in the third round.

I told ya Saint would be a scary upset game for Watauga. Saint plays good defense. Habich is a great game planner. We shall see.
