Northwestern-Maryland second half/ OT thread

35-31 at the under-16 timeout. Collins decides to go back to his Olah/Pardon lineup that did damage in the first half.
39-34 Maryland at the under-12 timeout. Northwestern is just 2-for-9 from the field and has three turnovers in the second half, but Maryland's turnovers (12 for the game, three in the half) are keeping the Cats close
The Maryland defense is taking charge and we have no offensive rhythm in the second half. Olah not providing any offense.
45-43 Northwestern at the under-8. Tre Demps has six points since the last timeout, two tough jumpers and a nice finish at the rim going right
48-47 Maryland with four and a half to go. Terrapins go on a 5-0 mini-run after Northwestern built a four-point lead
Trimble misses at the buzzer and its tied 48-48 at the end of regulation. Neither team has scored since there was 4:43 left in the game
Trading free throws when you're down and putting Joey vZ to the line is not a winning ploy.
We destroyed them on the rebounds. Lost on free throws. Shot 42% from the line, while they went over 80%. 11 point difference right there.
It's just painful to watch Demps struggle right now. Not sure if bringing him off the bench is the answer though. I don't think our other options are going to be much better.
Olah, whether its injury or not, was painful to watch as well. We missed way too many easy lay-up/dunks because of lack of athleticism down low.

Well, that was great basketball and emotions flying as they are exciting to watch. A few things
1. Olah simply needs to rest until BTT. We lost all Mo then fell behind. Then after he was yanked, we went on a 12-2 run. He is awful with his club foot. It's embarrassing to watch. C'mon Coach!
2. Pardon couldn't play closing out the game or OT since he simply can't buy a FT. Either that or he pissed off Collins somehow because the dude got game and should have played.
3. Lumpkin was MVP. Played a helluva game on D. MONSTER GAME by Sanjay.
4 Joey had a very good game.
5. Demps married life has too many things on his mind. His shot is plum awful.

The problem is we simply do not have enough scorers. Hopefully that will change with better recruits. Pardon is showing some nice post moves and physicality. Falzon is developing too but both are still just Freshmen. Our two seniors, Demps and Olah, simply aren't good enough against longer, athletic defenders. Teams are doubling McIntosh because they don't fear anybody else. I hope the guy doesn't wear out. This was our chance against a good team having an off night. I'm afraid we are headed for another painful Big Ten losing streak.
