Anyone think this is the year Northwestern finally make the NCAA Tournament? Collins currently has the team at 11-2 and on an 8-game win streak.

This is the best team, on paper, that Northwestern has had in a long time. It sure would be a cool story if he could finally push them over the edge. It's just remarkable to me that as a team playing in a P5 conference they've never, ever made the NCAAT.

Thanks for the info. Yes it is remarkable they've never been to the NCAAT. I don't know anything about their team but I'm going to watch and hope they win.

They have two nice scorers in Lindsey (sp) and Law. Their point guard, McIntosh, is just steady and heady. Lumpkin is their do-everything guy....scores a little but he's one of the better defenders (and versatile) in the Big Ten. He might be the last holdover from when Collins came aboard.

I love seeing all coaches on Duke's coaching tree seeing success and winning and that includes Brey when they aren't playing Duke and Brey right now has the upper hand. OFC

Brey turns into John Wooden and Notre Dame turns into UCLA when they play Duke.

Northwestern wins 87-77. 12-2 on the season. No matter the opponent, conference road wins are important to the NCAA Tournament resume.

They play at Michigan State on Friday.

Penn State is a pretty bad team, but nonetheless, these are the kind of games middle-of-the-road conference teams will slip up on sometimes....glad to see that didn't happen to NW. They play four of their first five games in conference play on the road. if they can get through those five at 3-2 they will be sitting in really, really good shape.

Good for Collins there. He took on one hell of a challenge. If he can get them over the hump he might earn himself a really nice contract.

This morning, Lunardi said Northwestern is comfortably in the NCAA Tournament (as a 7-seed as of today).

What a HUGE accomplishment! There have been nearly 80 NCAA Tournaments and this will be Northwestern's first trip!
