I don't post much about the baseball program but I enjoy catching the games. Fanning not renewed and Belanger heads to FSU. This has the smell of something about to go really bad, to be honest my gut tells me our baseball program may be a dumpster fire. Just a feeling!

I don't see it as a bad thing...this is the only chance Mingione has to get it right, needs new blood.

Those guys didn't produce results - we know we get Mingione for at least another year, so best chance for us as fans is to get new assistants that could provide a bit of life.

We are bad, no doubting that.

it will be interesting to see who we hire and what their contracts look like. UK has Mingione on contract through 2021. I imagine they will contract with the new coaches for the same timeframe. Sadly, we may be stuck with Mingione until then.

If his contract is only through 2021, and next year is like this year I don't think there is any way they can bring him back in '21. I think if no improvement shown next year MB will be forced to eat that last year and get someone in to fix this mess.

So you would think, but it depends on how long he can continue with the excuses if you will.

Year 1: Amazing
Year 2: Injuries
Year 3: Young
Year 4: Still young with new coaching staff

Will these fly or will he be shown the door? I think Mitch is sometimes pretty slow to fire coaches, so I think it is very possible he sticks around until 2021.

Hey comeback do you think brad bohannon would have been a better hire? What’s your thoughts I know someone who knows him and I think he really wanted the job

I like Bohannon and have no problems with him. I don't want him here. I would have been fine with him being hired as head coach to replace Cohen, but I would have been pretty annoyed had we hired him to replace Henderson in 2016/17. That would have just been passing the torch instead of finding the best possible candidate. Further, Bohannon did well as an assistant and recruiting coordinator, but we still struggled and often didn't have complete teams. We also at times seemed to lack identity. Two years in, he hasn't really wowed at Alabama, but that can certainly change.

Hiring coaches is always a risk. Tennessee hired a guy that had been to the CWS with two different teams and had 5 straight years of 40+ wins. He came to Tennessee and stayed for 6 years, winning over 30 games in just one of those seasons and only finishing better than 6th in the East once. A guy I thought should be a sure thing was a flop. I thought that Stricklin would quickly turn around Georgia. It took him until year 5 to finally win over 30 games.

I can see both sides of this. On one hand, I view Bellanger as a miserable failure over the last few years. Our pitching was awful this year, and the year before we had TONS of talent that was underutilized.

Fanning has been pulling in mostly highly-rated recruiting classes, but where are the results?

I think this administration is likely to end in failure, but i give him credit for making changes when something is not working.

Is it a coincidence that as Gary Hendersons players graduate or otherwise move on, our wins decline?

IF minge is let go after the 2020 season, Mitch needs to get away from the John Cohen coaching tree.
A fresh look at EXPERIENCED head coaches, even at lower level programs, is a must IMO
