The community fractured pretty hard when the old site went out. Some went to discord, some to WCN, some here, and some just said screw it. The Lair is damn near dead. I don't know if it will pick up when the season kicks off or not.

The Lair has never been super high volume. I also think the low expectations of the season and Stoops fatigue are contributing. If we lose to Toledo I can assure you it will be hopping on there for all the wrong reasons.

I never saw the previous board this slow, even in the off season. I have not seen a post on the Nike contract I was always amazed about the attention that many paid about fonts, checkerboards, the wildcat on shirts, etc. I never understood the love or hatred of such But no one on the free board has even mentioned the contract
That’s because we haven’t lost any games yet! Just wait

It's slow everywhere.. I'll shamelessly plug my discord - https://discord.gg/2ytf6pQm

But yes once the merger started people fractured into multiple sites. It's really making a long off-season even slower due the split.

I've kinda already dropped going to WN and I'm on discord and here.

I’ve requested my old username and the admins say I never had an account. Just frustrating and I’m sure many others are just as jaded and consider it the end of an era.

(I joined in like 2006. The link to change my username was a blank page and now it isn’t even an option. On3 rolled out the merger way before the site was ready to port everyone over. If i wanted to be anon, I’d go post on 4chan or some shlt.
Almost the same here. I did get my old user name but nothing else. Was a member of RR since around 2003 with over 24,000 posts and around 13,000 reactions and they tell me they're working on getting them on my account. That was many weeks ago and nothing has happened. Poor site change and I rarely come on here any more like I did on the old board. Just not the same.

Anything touched by Matt Jones goes to sh*t. It's a pain in the *** to log in now, and the site is just junk. Thank goodness for adblockers that work because this thing was LOADED with ads when I first logged on.

Just since typing this post my adblocker has blocked 136 ads.

I get ad banners on the bottom, popups blocked on the top and occasionally it tries to start a virus scan of my iPad from the on3 site. It’s becoming very annoying using this site.

That’s odd that some are having screen issues. I have found it (on iPad) better than previous board. On th previous board my typing which isn’t fast would be 10-15 characters ahead and this would be aggravated by constant refreshes that would not contain what I had typed or when it was found it would not be complete because of its slow speed. I have encountered none of that on this current board. I don’t have many ads either, just a small ribbon on bottom that I just ignore.

Not throwin shade but why? With the accounts I've had I'd be closing in on 100K likes sometime in the near futrure but it never bothered me losing it at all because I never paid attention to it. Just wondering what it is that's pissed so many off about it?
Personally, I spent years and thousands of posts making sure I ruined my reputation on that old board and neither my username nor anything else transferred over. And now I have to do all that work again. It's just annoying.

I used to breeze by rr every few days to catch up on the goings on with our cats, and in doing the same here it appears there just isn't nearly as much to read about. Its much slower with less users contributing content. Any suggestions? Must I buck up an spend a little to get the same info and entertainment
On3 Basketball is run by a South Carolina homer named Jamie Shaw. A lot of people don't want to put money in his pocket, so they are just avoiding On3.

Honestly Rupps Rafters seemed to be slowing down before the migration and the move certainly didn't help.

Message boards in general seem to trend older. The younger fans are on more current forms of social media.

I'm an older guy, so what's a more current form of social media that has Kentucky sports on it?

Summer always slows down but it’s been even slower than usual since on3 killed the Rivals site. We will know if it’s legitimately dead when the season starts by how the traffic is. I suspect it picks up but is nowhere near what it was on Rivals. Feels like many went elsewhere when Rivals was killed.

This site has the same feel to it but vastly different with losing familiarity with so many posters. Joined in 2010 and managed to change my username to my RR name after a few attempts but had to add the _ in for some stupid reason. Missed getting to post during popes first season because of a stupid 6 month ban so feels like I’ve been disengaged for damn near a year now. Hope this site starts to resemble the old moreso once the season gets rolling.

The unfortunate truth is that this site just doesn't generate as much interest and discussion as the old board. I'm not sure why, but it's true. I've been around here for almost 24 years and I've never seen this board as dead as it is now. There were always things to talk about in the off-season and there were a lot of discussions, but it's just not taken off here. I hope that changes.

I agree with you. I think people just didn't take to the change. I find myself not as vested as I was in checking the board and catching up. It just has the feel of blah.

I originally was going to switch just to the other site but decided today I'm going to do both. Do we have the same Mod's as we had before sorry just trying to catch up?

I think the timing of the move was poor from a continuity standpoint. The program is strong and rather noncontroversial at the moment. So many actual fans didn't have a lot of motivation to fight the bumpy migration. Out of season the extraordinary numbers of interlopers from other programs have no reason to battle through the transfer either. When the season cranks up, then perhaps we’ll get to critical mass then and the board will be what it was again. It is my hope that basketball and not program politics dominates the discussion.

Here's hoping they come back, I guess.

Honestly I resisted at first as well, but I'm back now. I tried to do the Discord, but as I expected I lost interest in it within days. I also tried Wildcat Faithful or Wildcat Nation or whatever, but lack of dark mode and the mobile version wasting tons of vertical space eventually caused me to stop bothering.

So yeah. Here's hoping traffic picks up here because otherwise it'll just be the end of an era for me.
