It's a great service the DSR provides, but it's a closed circle, and that's Ok!!

I encourage everyone to post their Top 10 - no regulations on how you make determinations - just be able to back it up!!

East Side - Too fast for anyone in the state.
PR - Sampson even with short hair is a monster.
MS - Finest performance yesterday.
GBN - Played the top team better than anyone in two states.
Palatine - Injuries happen, replacements were damned good.
SCE - Played Palatine tough!
LA - Great size, a step too slow yesterday.
Althoff - Still think they have the best skill guy's in the state.
IC - Wished they'd have been in the 4A bracket - really nice looking RB.
Rochester - Great skills, always consistent, they don't make mistakes.

Clique? my lourdes you are a preteen girl.
It's a word choice - chosen to be playful.

Let's examine other C-word choices: committee, college, collective, coven, colleagues, cabal, corporation.

I can go through the entire alphabet but prefer not to do so.

It was not meant to be a head shot!

My peanut gallery top 10
1. Tie ESL - best D in the state. Never had to have their non existent kicking game tested.
1. Tie PR - best run O in the state. I think only ESL D has the ability to stop them.
3. MS - might have been undefeated this year if those 5 guys played both ways all year and stayed healthy.
4. Loyola - big fast great O. Had trouble with speed when on D
5. GBN - probably should have beat ESL in their place save an emotional crushing and interesting pass interference call.
6. GBW - didn't match up well with Loyola size. Matches up better with most of the other top 10 teams
7. Palatine - with Olles they probably 8A state champs.
8. Rochester - think they could play with just about anyone.
9. Peoria - really liked their offense and QB. Their D - not so much.
10. IC - probably a stretch at 10 - they would be dominated at most positions in the higher classes- but their RB might be able to carry them against most teams.

Bonus pick number 25 - WV - because it's my damn list and I like the number 25 and I think WV could have given a game to most of the top 25 teams in the state.

Interestingly, in the final computer rankings from Max Preps, they still have Loyola ahead of Maine South despite MS winning state..

I had W Aurora in mine. Beat Huntley just about like PR did and lost to eventual champ 42-40.GBN rounded out mine. Lost to eventual 7A champ on last play of game to Thomas on road.

IC was a tough call for me. At the end of the day I needed their marquee Win vs Laurence to make it to 6A final and play PR somewhat tight.

1.ESL - Too much of everything and I personally believe their D would be diff vs PR
2. PR - Think they get beat by week 14 MS but at 14-0 hard to argue
3. MS - Can't play guys both way all year but when the season is on the line, 75 and 51 added stability
4. LA - Big and strong and maybe could have brought a little more passion to the field. Must be the coats
5. GBN - I agree - ran into the best in the state and almost beat them on the road
6. GW - Not enough size in front 8 to stay with LA, but MS might have done the same with their road pavers
7. NV - Again, unfortunate Rd 1 opponent
8. Pal - Pal v NV would have been a beast of a game but NV too deep
9. SHG - Ran into 2nd best team in the state and may have had tough time with H-F
10. Homer- Flosswood - These guys can deal and if they stayed on turf might have gone very deep

Sorry ... I'm relatively new here and enjoy what I see. What does "DSR" stand for?

Thanks in advance.

My take:

ESL - if Loyola had won, I'd have them at 2. Think Loyola executes more consistently
Loyola - Regular season + eye test, keeping them high
PR - dominated 6A, too one dimensional in my mind to dominate the 7/8A teams
MS - tough call, wanted to put them at #3
GBN - were it not for ESL in Rd2, they would have been in champaign
GW - 3rd best team in 8A?
Fenwick - think they would have given ESL a tougher game, still think ESL wins the ship
HF - 4th best team in 8A?
NV - tough draw in Rd1
SHG - ran into the PR buzzsaw, but think they can hang with any of the above teams
