Minnesota would beat anybody in the conference the way they're shooting today...
It's not all bad defense. It's hard to defend when EVERYBODY'S on fire.

That would make him a Freshman. Please stop. The only people buying what you're selling are hopeless homers who will rationalize anything and perform whatever mental gymnastics are required to avoid the reality. This is a terrible, terrible team, and it's not because "they're young." The one guy who looks like he knows what he's doing out there is a sophomore who didn't play last year.
I’m offended. It’s First Year. Please get it rightThat would make him a Freshman.
Did they really miss 6? I left with 3 minutes left and they had missed 4. Salt in the wound. When Minnesota missed that 6th FT it might have been the loudest I've yelled since the Pardon game winner against Michigan.

That was as humiliating as it's been at Welsh Ryan in a long time. I know we're supposed to let the kids have their fun, but hearing folks cheering wildly at the end of that clusterfuck for a crap-*** chicken sandwich just made me feel 100 times worse. When Minnesota missed that 6th FT it might have been the loudest I've yelled since the Pardon game winner against Michigan.
It was good TV tho. Brust loved it. There must’ve been an intentional foul or two in there. That was as humiliating as it's been at Welsh Ryan in a long time. I can offer an explanation, but then people will say that I'm making excuses and call me names. No thanks. Here’s some more reality. We are less competitive now than we were when we started playing conference games. Explain that.

It’s his first year on the court as you stated, that makes him a red shirt “First Year” as the politically correct at NU like to call him. The team will either improve next year or CCC will be gone. No, that makes him a sophomore. He may or may not use a fifth year of athletic eligibility. Given where this program is, no one would blame him for using that fifth year somewhere else, if he chooses to continue his college career.
This is the worse season of major sports at NU in a long long time. I missed all of the game today besides the last 5 minutes so can’t comment on today’s effort. It obviously didn’t result in a competitive game.I can offer an explanation, but then people will say that I'm making excuses and call me names. No thanks.

Having said that, believe it or not, I think most of the younger players have improved since the beginning of the season. Boo, Young, Kopp, Jones for sure. I predicted a 13th place finish this year, I’ll miss it by one spot. Winning one or two more games means nothing to me in the scope of things. It sucks, but I am trying real hard to see light at the end of the tunnel. Next year, I think we can get 6-7 conference wins. Of course, that will not be enough to stop the CCC hate. Players win not coaches. You have to have some experience unless you have elite talent on the roster. Most of all you need a killer to close out games. I’ll take the hits for you.
This season marks a huge missed opportunity because of exactly this. I think there was a chance PBJ and Christie would have considered NU. If this was a young team on the rise with good young players in the fight for an NCAA bid or at least an NIT bid, I think those two guys would look at this program as a really interesting opportunity. But a 6 win team?? Are you kidding me?? Why would they risk their one chance to play college basketball to come to a program that can only win 6 games? I think we lost those guys because of this sh*tty season. For me, it's all about the PBJ, Christie, Goode class and whether we can finally get elite talent. All in on that class.
4-14 in the conference, we will have improved from this season. Then the board debate will shift to how we quadrupled our conference win total and are headed in the right direction. All true, but the bar is pretty low right now.
I don’t think it makes any difference. I have a hard time believing they were/are coming to NU. If they are to come to NU, it is for one reason only, that is to set a legacy that lasts a generation. A legacy that is only enhanced when they take a team from 1 win to heights it never achieved. There was no way this team was going to compete this year for a NCAA bid. No way, and PBJ knew it coming into the season. Winning 4 B1G games (IMO the absolute ceiling of this years team coming in) versus this debacle is irrelevant. What is relevant is how do they view the young guys as potential teammates? Supporting pieces, while they can take the lead. Can THEY win with THEM? They wouldn’t be fighting for last shots like they would at Duke. They would be the man. This season marks a huge missed opportunity because of exactly this. I think the board will blame CCC if PBJ goes elsewhere and call for CCC head. The debate will shift to we should have canned CCC a year earlier and we could have hired PBS and the program would have been forever changed. CCC will get replaced, and the new guy will have a losing record, just like every other BB Coach NU has had.Oh, we will definitely improve next year. Not trying to be cheeky, but even if our final record is 10-20 and we are 4-14 in the conference, we will have improved from this season. Then the board debate will shift to how we quadrupled our conference win total and are headed in the right direction. All true, but the bar is pretty low right now.

Making a coaching change like that for one recruit is crazy. He plays for one or two years at most and then where are you? Plus, PBJ isn't LeBron or Zion or Kobe. He can't carry a last place BIG team by himself to the NCAAs. This reminds me more of Ben Simmons going to LSU. He was one of the best players in the country, but not amazing enough to take a bad team to the tourney.I think the board will blame CCC if PBJ goes elsewhere and call for CCC head. I'm a Collins supporter but it might be time to bring Baldwin Sr. and Jr. to Evanston. That could free up Chris to get in on the Bulls staff. Changes are definitely needed there.College basketball is a game of guards. We still don't have enough good ones. Hopefully, next year that will change. Additionally, it's great to have big men that can score from 3 or take it to the rack (see: Garza, Smith and Uturu). I think we have some potential there with better guard play to set them up. Collins has had to rebuild the roster after losing Lathan. I'm willing to give him a little more time, but we can't have many more showings like yesterday, especially at home. Up to then, we had been pretty competitive in home Big Ten games, just couldn't finish.

Dude, nobody is aggravating themselves other than a couple or 3 people who love the brutality. It's time to think about 2022 and flush the seasons before that. Let's see what happens in 2022, that's our hope at least. If Collins can't win the Big with 2 of the top 8 prospects then the problem is him. But even if he remains an awful hot headed emotional coach that panics when there are 5 minutes left in the game, he still should be able to get us into the NCAA's in 2023. At any rate, better years to come. Are you guys still watching our games? Stop aggravating yourself and flush the season already. That isnt us out there!
