Programs that aren't typically winless at this point in the year. I am sure all can be attributed (hopefully) to just a down year or rebuilding phase since all are quality programs.

All were IHSA qualifiers last season with the exception of Oak Forest who had qualified for the playoffs 17 straight years prior to 2017.

(2017 record) and top 2 remaining opponents for 2018

Glenbard North (5-5) - Batavia, Wheaton South

Lyons Township (7-3) - Glenbard West, Hinsdale Central

Crete-Monee (8-2) - Rich Central, Rich East

Fenwick (7-5) - Mount Carmel, Montini

Curie (9-4) - Phillips, Simeon

Libertyville (5-5) - Lake Zurich, Warren

Naperville North (6-4) - Waubonsie Valley, Huntley (+NC & NV!!!)

Oak Forest (4-5) - Hillcrest, Lemont

My guess is only Crete-Monee will qualify this season. Libertyville and GBN have a chance.

My son's high school team (STCE) just played GBN. They seemed a lot tougher than their record would indicate. Solid running back and decent enough passing game. A couple of standouts on defense too (#6 was a beast). Still like you said, they are in a deep hole and have a tough road ahead to qualify.

They must have taken a huge lightyear jump from week 1 to week 3 then because Neuqua beat them pretty bad 29-6 and GBN had negative yards rushing for the game and a whopping 86 yards total offense (90 yards passing and minus 4 rushing = 86 net offensive yards). GBN got a TD at the end of the game I beleive to avoid the shutout. Then in week 2 Warren shut them out. Those are two pretty good playoff caliber teams though in all fairness.
