Urb Would be a funny higher right now for anyone that has a vacancy. Oklahoma is decent, Notre Dame with their schedule is above average, and if Cincinnati has a vacancy, they have a very good team.

perfect spot for Urb. Come in and coach already established good teams, two years later, have health issues and step away.

Notre Dame is going to have to join a conference at some point. Might take a couple more years of them getting shut out of the playoffs, due to that final data point (conference championship). I just hope they don't get in this year, but they still have a chance. Need a pair of losses between Bama, Michigan, Cinci, and Ok State, but it's possible. Even with that happening, would be splendid to see a two loss team keep them out, just to further piss them off.

Yep same here.

plus they are looking at their DC to take the team over. Bill Stewart situation for sure. If they pass on Luke, which would crack me up, they will have missed a golden opportunity.

With all these high profiles jobs opening up, not much talk about Matt Campbell….

I hope they never join a conference and sink into total irrelevancy; they are almost there now. There can be little doubt that Brian Kelley left for that consideration, among others. At his age he realized Notre Dame was never going to be one of the top 4 and get in because the current format runs through 2025.

ND already named the DC to be the new coach.

As for Campbell, he missed the opportunity to strike at the end of last year, while the iron was still hot. Hell, even I was hoping he would go to Michigan. Now days, not so much.

Notre Dame made a huge mistake in their hire. But who knows perhaps he is the right guy only time will tell. So unlike ND to not go for the top gun.

Maybe they had aspirations of returning to the good ole Bob Davie days.

Time will tell if the new guys will be good or not. One things for sure though. ND expects to win football games.

Kelly has won everywhere he's been

He has average 8.4 wins a season in his 31 year career.

Grand Valley State 118-35-2 (13 years)
Central Michigan 19-16 (3 years) [a team that was 33-92 in their last 125 games]
Cincinnati 34-6 (3 years) put him on the map
Notre Dame 92-39 (12 years) [had 21 wins and BCS game vacated for violations]

He will win at LSU but he will not turn them into Alabama. This will probably upset the big dollar donors.

LOL! Yep. Bob Davie 2.0
The AD initially said no one from the current staff would be considered. Not going down that rabbit hole of why the change in heart
What the hell, I will. The amount of social capital ND will get with this move cannot be ignored. A school that historically lured coaches away from the NFL and other major university programs hired a young coordinator with no head coaching experience. Imagine, we have ND fans saying, "five years ago, our HC was the Co-DC at....PURDUE!"

But he checks all the right boxes. He'll be the most talked about person in college football next year. Barack Obama will probably tweet him. He'll be a media darling. All the espn word vomitters will slobber all over him. And he'll go 6-6.

Whatever pisses off the Golden Domers is OK with me.

Literally the most accurate response on here in years.

Makes me happy. I was worried Luke would make ND relevant.
Damn if 11-1 and 5 straight 10+ win seasons are irrelevant then sign me up for that. Not to mention a playoff appearance a few years ago. I’m no ND homer but they have been one the best 6-7 programs the last 10 years.

This is why BK never impressed me at all. New schedule is out, and given the current status, ND can sleep walk to a 9-10 win season only to get blasted in the playoffs or NY6.

Only has three games that are relevant: OSU= loss, Clemson (struggling) = win, USC = win. Maybe Lincoln has them ready by then, but BK and ND = inflated stats.

Upset a OSU team early in game 1, they have a 94% chance to be in playoffs and a 90% of going undefeated.

ND schedules 5 ACC teams that are bottom feeders of the ACC Coastal.

Took OT to beat a 5-7 FSU team (ACC Atlantic)
Kicked FG in final 17 seconds to beat a 6-6 VT
Kicked a FG in fnal 2 minutes to beat a 6-6 UNC by 10
Beat a 6-6 UVA team by 25
Beat a 3-9 Georgia Tech by 55

4-0 versus the bottom feeders of ACC Coastal
1-0 vs the Atlantic bottom feeder
