Yep, it's a well-worn path. Fickell apparently has said that Notre Dame is one of the two jobs that he would be interested in.

BK really didn’t do too much at ND. Sure they made the playoffs, but got their *** beat because they were never top four teams. Plus Notre Dame strength the schedule has been super weak, especially since they play ACC teams
Of course I do. Sure he had a school record over a coach who had players in leather helmets, he played military schools and would have played against the Coast Guard if they would have a team, he did have 22 wins in two season but were vacated, several 8-5 seasons against above average comp, nasty 4-8 season, thumped in playoffs and BCS National Championship games, one undefeated season with a weak SOS. Oh….and left a team with a 60% chance of being in final four! He basically said himself that he can’t compete with Georgia, Oklahoma State/Baylor, Cincinnati or Michigan which he does not play on an annual basis anymore.
