Also, it's pretty hilarious that any person from UNC involved with investigating these allegations will talk about "our due diligence." That ship sailed years ago when this cheating scandal first surfaced and the administration quickly dismissed it as nothing.

I have no idea what UNC is thinking -- but, if they fall short of winning a national title in basketball, pretty sure the harm of delaying the NCAA process will be greater than the benefits of avoiding a postseason ban this season (which is far from a guarantee). UNC basically struck out in 2015 recruiting because of the cloud of the NCAA scandal. By delaying the NCAA decision another year, UNC's essentially ensured that they're going to strike out again on the top 2016 guys. If that happens, 16-17 year is a going to be a tough season (with the guaranteed losses of Paige, Bryce Johnson, and Joel James) and that could descend into a complete disaster if they have an early entrants (which I think is likely with Justin Jackson). In other words, they could be staring down the barrel of a NIT type season in 16-17 -- with 17-18 not looking any better with Meeks, Britt, and Jackson almost certainly gone by that point -- assuming they even make it to 16-17.

They might not even make the NIT those years. All of these attempts to delay the process is even more surprising considering the talent coming out of North Carolina last year (Ingram) and this upcoming year (Giles and Smith).

This just seems crazy...until you realize it's UNC. For 5 years they've tried to deflect, deny, or defend the Carolina brand. This could have been all over years ago, and likely without very much pain on their part...but they've dug in for bad or worse.

Actually, I think UNC must believe they're going to get hit hard, and they're still attempting to use more time to find a way to slip out of this mess. It could be that they're hoping to hold off long enough for the men's basketball & football teams to have good seasons and thus stem the tide of bad publicity. The best thing is that as long as this continues it will still hurt them in recruiting. I don't know if they can't see that, or if it's that Carolina Way arrogance. Anyway, I'm enjoying seeing the UNC fans squirm.

I really believe that UNC indeed wants to delay the decision about sanctions until spring with the hopes of winning a national title. his thing about the delay hurting recruiting is bull manure and makes me think that for sure there's some serious stuff going own. If indeed in the spring the worst case scenario does come out what does that have to do with recruiting. OFC

After thinking about it, maybe UNC does have a women's bowling team. I have to admire their spirit.
