Now with the MBB season officially over, this question needs to be asked:

Was last year a fluke, or was this year a temporary setback.

I haven't seen a crash and burn like this since 1999.

How many wins did last year's team have over ranked teams? Not many! Could last season have been a fluke and a fake?

Making the tournament last year having played our schedule was not a fluke. Last year is meaningless at this point. We’ll need a lot of portal help to get better, especially if CMB goes to the draft. I think he could definitely benefit from another year in college but doubt he will stay. Paris is on a short leash going forward. I hope the league is graduating a lot of talent or next year will be just as tough. It may make or break LP.

Think we need to spread out NIL $$ over the team instead of pay 1 player so much. Know that was an issue with GG. Not sure if we paid CMB a ton to stick around. Either way, the solutions aren’t on the court right now. Hit the portal hard, hope freshmen can play, or it’s hit the road Lamont after year 4.

You think he'd benefit from another year? Isn't he projected to be a Top pick now?

The evidence would suggest last year was a fluke.

Year 1 SEC record: 4-14
Year 2 SEC record: 13-5
Year 3 SEC record: 2-16

There is great disparity in those numbers. Years 1 and 3 are so very, very different from Year 2 that you can't reconcile them.

Yes, CMB is gone. I don't understand the delusion some have that he can greatly benefit from another year in college. He is a near top 10 pick, and some have him in the top 10. I mean, maybe, and it's a HUGE maybe, if we were some kind of championship contender, he'd come back, but even with that it's unlikely he'd pass up the money.

I'm seeing more Mid to Late 1st Round Pick for CMB. With our history, our players always get drafted later than they expect. With that said, CMB will most likely declare without signing with an agent, go to the Combine and workouts and see how it goes. If he stands a good chance at being picked in the lottery, he stays in the draft. If it's looking like lower 1st Round or even the possibility of falling in the 2nd Round, he has the option to come back if he wants.

Come back…or go somewhere else too. Right? Odds of CMB being here between NBA and NIL are so small. We need to plan for him to be gone and build a decent team in the offseason. It’s been done.
