Nance scored 21 pts less than Maine’s center. Should have had 40.

Guards were non existent.

Kopp scores a bunch in the first 5 minutes and is forgotten.

NU ran one offensive set. One. Never adjusted on either end.

Two issues with 3s. (1) on defense - To his credit Greer seemed to be the only guy who understood that the guy can’t shoot if you stand next to him. Buie and Gaines missed that memo.

(2) on offense - NU made 2 threes. Let that sink in.

Collins has failed to recruit anything other than role players and has failed to recruit any guards. Wow was Gaines awful and I thought he would lead the team in scoring.

Watching the team it looks like every big is a year away. Sadly, this showing was against Merrimack. Maine’s bigs had 57 so any hope may be false. Of course with zero guards it’s gonna be rough no matter what. Jesus the guards were horrible on both ends of the floor.

How have they not found one shooter in 7 years. Maybe Kopp could be but that would require designing a play to get him the ball.

I have been going to games for 40 years - this is a really bad team that is going to lose games by 50pts in the big ten. I expect multiple 90-40 type games. Someone may hang 100 on the Cats on the road. I can’t imagine the upcoming contest against Michigan State.

Its that bad.

The centers from Iowa and Illinois are going to destroy NU bigs - like 25 and 15 nights.

I really don’t like to see people fail at their jobs but Collins is failing at his job in real time.

Gonna be hard to get anyone to throw down $$$ next year for seats and I’m sure those letters are coming soon. Poor people who are paying for the Wilson Club. That place may be a ghost town by next season.

In my opinion the Wilson Club isn't the place you need to worry about. I know they're dropping a lot of coin but ... People there tend to have a lot more room for error with their discretionary income- and have reasons beyond just watching the game to be there.

It's all those other (empty) seats I worry about.

The one offensive set observation....just not difficult to defend this team...no threats, no killers.

Greer has played nice both games....not a marquee player but he'd get minutes with excellent NU teams.

I honestly think Collins has gotten the best that NU will let in.

I saw a really pissed off look on Nance's face with two minutes to go. Disgusted and pissed off. All my chips are on that. I think back to '95 after NU FB beat ND and then lost the next game. Probably delusional but I look for much better play then next few games.

I'm not as big a fan of Gaines as many here. But in his defense, the training staff was working on his shoulder during the Quincy game. Then he entered last night's game with "a something"/light wrap-ish on the same shoulder.

So he may not be 100%. Or at least I hope that's a reason.
