Not sure but If it was in one of the canals shouldn't have been too far to shore. If it was in open water ... Water temp probably a big factor

I believe Glades speculated in another thread that perhaps the kid may have had an undetected medical condition and was dead when he hit the water. Seems odd otherwise this could happen with so many athletes around who are used to the water, though agreed hypothermia might be nearly immediate in those conditions without a wet suit (wonder if they wear wet suits?)
