Lauren Boyd pitched well.Had a shutout going into the seventh.Would be huge for NU to develop that second pitcher behind Williams.Hope Boyd can build on this nice performance today.
NO-HITTER for Danielle Williams against Stanford.Struck out 11 walked 2.Cats wi 4-0.Sweep the DH and go 4 and 0 on the weekend.Great job.

Williams saves the day in game 2.Comes in the 7th and strikes out 2 to help the Cats win 8-6.Cats take the DH.Got scary but we held on.
Cats clobber Sparty 9 to 1 in a 6 inning run rule game.Danielle Williams stellar again.No earned runs 9 strikeouts and just 2 hits.Rachael Lewis finished the game off in the bottom of the 6th with a grand slam.Big weekend next week as the Cats take on Michigan.GO CATS!!!
Ended up being moot point but absolutely inexcusable coaching error by Michigan in the inning. On the play where the Michigan centerfielder made the catch (and was injured), the NU baserunner who circled past 2nd base clearly did NOT touch the base on way back to first. She actually did straight line beeline back to first. Would have been out if Michigan appealed.

This is a tough minded team. Playing the difficult early schedule will pay dividends. Now 7-2 against ranked teams.
Three out of 4 ranking services have NU 6th. Why is BTN using the lone outlier???
Rankings really moot point for us. Even if we finish in top 8 we can't host super regional (no permanent lights)
Permanent lights should be snuck into the budget for the Ryan Field renovations!
The game today got underway but now is in a weather delay.Top of the third no score.One of the more unusual plays you will ever see happened in the bottom of the first.With two outs Maeve Nelson hit one over the fence in left.But Jordyn Rudd who was on first must have thought the ball was caught cause as she rounded second she started to head back to the dugout and Nelson passed her on the base path and was out to end the inning.Nelson was credited with a single but that was it.
I checked a few minutes ago and there was heavy snow falling in Evanston. Doubt that play will resume, and the forecast for tomorrow is not much better, Too bad because Boyd had not yet given up a hit.
Base running error doesn’t quite capture what happened. Total mental breakdown by both players and all the coaches on the most obvious of plays. WOW! Beyond embarrassing for the Lady Cats. GOUNUII
Got away with the base running mistake yesterday when Michigan did not catch the mistake.We will see tomorrow if the Cats can overcome the mistake today.Physical errors are one thing those happen.Mental errors are quite different.Be heads up and be aware of the situation.Coaches also.Those mistakes will cost you a ballgame.
