Per Jon Rothstein, NU will host Providence as part of the 2019 Gavitt Games. That's a good matchup for us as Providence is typically a pretty good team.

Ed Cooley, head coach at Providence, turned down Michigan and got a nice pay bump. Would have been fun to see the Friars (Providence, not Hinman House) play @UM.

As a former Friar, I think it would have been fun to see Hinman House play them too. -:)

Has Northwestern ever won one of these games? We've lost to Butler a couple of times and we lost to Creighton. We've beaten DePaul regularly but I believe that's a series apart from the Gavitt Games.

Was it ever confirmed that Cooley was offered the job? I recall seeing a Providence student report Cooley was a done deal, but don’t remember if anyone more legitimate had that. Always seemed like Howard was their guy due to pressure from loud mouthed former players.
