Top 7 Big 12 teams are 30-1 against the Bottom 2.

And 30-3 against the Bottom 3.

BIG 12 STANDINGS

Baylor 12-1

West Virginia 11-5

Kansas 12-6

Texas 10-6

Oklahoma State 10-7

Texas Tech 9-7

Oklahoma 9-8 #15/#16 nationally, #7 in the Big 12!

TCU 5-10

Kansas State 3-14

Iowa State 0-17

NATIONAL RANKINGS

#3 Baylor

#5/#6 West Virginia

#13/#14 Kansas

#15/#16 Texas

#15/#16 Oklahoma

#17 Oklahoma State

#18 Texas Tech

SATURDAY’S GAMES

2 p.m., ESPN2 -- #17 Oklahoma State at #6 West Virginia

5 p.m., ESPN+ -- Iowa State at Kansas State

SUNDAY’S GAMES

4 p.m., ESPN -- #18 Texas Tech at #3 Baylor

7 p.m., ESPN+ -- #15 Texas at TCU

Even if Texas Tech loses to Baylor and drops into a 9-8 tie for 7th place with Oklahoma, I assume the Red Raiders still get #6 seed and skip the first day of the Big 12 tournament because they beat the Sooners twice. So as I see it #15/#16 nationally ranked Oklahoma, TCU, Kansas State and Iowa State are doomed to play the extra game on Wednesday before the Elite Eight starts on Thursday. Oklahoma is the only Top 7 team forced to play on Wednesday.

Unless Iowa State pulls the upset of the century, that would mean 7 of the 8 teams on Thursday are Top 25 teams. Only the TCU-Kansas State winner will be unranked nationally.

The ONLY Big 12 teams that lost to Kansas State were Oklahoma (!), TCU and Iowa State. The Sooners have the ONLY loss by a Top 7 team to a Bottom 2 team.

TCU, squeezed between the Top 7 and the Bottom 2, beat Texas A&M, 13th in 14-team SEC, beat Top 7 Oklahoma State twice and is 5-10 in the Big 12, also beating Iowa State twice and going 1-1 against Kansas State.

Go ahead, find a mistake in my numbers. The odds are you will. I'll be glad to correct my errors.

Meanwhile, I need to get some sleep to be ready for WVU's shootout with the Cowboys at 2 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2.

This should keep you busy for a while waiting for the tipoff.
